Paige was sitting in the couch, flipping through daytime television to find something she could endure. There was nothing to do, she was bound to the embryo growing inside of Charlotte's body and the boredom was slowly getting to her. She knew that she would go crazy sooner or later, but she couldn't do it today because she had an appointment to clarify what week she was in and listen to the heartbeats of the thing developing in her uterus. With a harsh click she turned off the TV and glared at it's black screen for a while, she hadn't even told Jared about the appointment so she knew she could use it to tease him a bit, at least it was something to do.
Closing the fridge, she opened the bottle of water quickly and poured some of the cold water down her throat, clearing as she did. “Jared!” Paige yelled out and glanced out over the apartment from the kitchen, she wasn't sure where he was nor did she usually care. “I don't have a lot of patience so you should appear as quickly as possible.” Her voice echoed through the space and she put down the water bottle on the counter, ticking her nails on it's surface while she waited.
Charlotte brushed the brush through her hair a few times before putting it down on the desk and checked herself in the mirror hanging on the wall in front of her. She wasn't really sure what type of date Jared had asked her out on but she figured a pair of black skinny jeans and a nice top would work. At least she hoped so, she took a step back and pushed down her feet in the flat shoes, twirling around to stroke Ludwig a few times before she walked out the room. For the first time in a long she wasn't actually nervous and it felt good, she just looked forward to it. Charlotte passed a few students in the corridor as she made her way to the school entrance. Without a sound she leaned towards the wall and patiently waited for Jared.
It seems like everyone's precious Charlotte finally moved on from that dreadful thing she had going with Shane Paltrow and found herself a new boyfriend because the last thing I heard was that she's dating Jared Seeley.
The walk to the bar was a bit long, but she didn’t mind even if she could just apparate there. Every step she took, nearing the place gave her more motivation to personally go face-to-face with the mutants. Though all of that feeling flushed away when she stood in front of the little building. All the yelling and shouting from drunk gentlemen could all be heard from outside. Scarlett gulped nervously and started regretting her decision on trying to be Jayson’s hero. Why did she have to be the hero? Why did she have to go alone? Why not a teacher? Why not Jared, Desimus, John or Frankie? Why not bring Jayden with her? Why her? This is no place for girls like her. “Screw that.” She said to herself. Scarlett didn’t need help from anyone. She might be young, short and a wimp, but she could succeed in anything; at least most of the time. Plus this was no time to turn back. What is there to lose? Will she end up hurt? He’s worth the pain. Will she die? Nobody ever makes it out alive anyways. “This is for you, Jayson.”
Scarlett checked her back-pocket making sure her want was in place and ready tu use just in case anything went wrong. Hesitantly, she opened the door to the bar and was instantly hit with the smell of smoke and alcohol and gained all the curious looks from everyone inside. She looked around and she headed towards the main counter and sat on a stool. Everyone in the place was probably over 30 years old. Men who probably lost their job, family and let their life go down the drain. Why did Jayson even come to this place? She thought. No sight of any younger men who looked like they actually had something to live for. No suspicious self-being. Was she in the right place? “Welcome.” Her thoughts were interrupted when the bartender leaned towards the counter and signaled her to order something. Scarlett wasn’t much of a drinker but she had no choice rather than to order something or otherwise she would get kicked out before getting any revenge. “Uh… tequila.” The bartender leaned off and went away to get her order. Scarlett remained looking around the place. It was crowded but dispersed. Groups of people who probably didn’t know one another, all scattered around the room probably making up those classic drunk stories, speaking about how horrible their mother-in-law’s were or are. Or how they got up this morning and found a cat in the living room; the usual.
Scarlett’s drink arrived and as soon as she got a grip of it, she tried chugging down as most as she could but the burning feeling in her throat made her almost spit the whole thing back from how strong it was. “How foul…” she gagged and put the drink back on the counter, rubbing her temples when she heard the main entrance of the bar open and close with a large thud. Scarlett looked back and saw a trio enter the place. Three guys, older than her but younger than the rest of the visitors and drinkers. One of them was extremely tall, the one next to him was buff and the other was average in overall.
The trio joined Scarlett up in the counter with a chorus of laughter. “And who do we have here?” Asked the taller guy as he leaned his body close to the girl with a smirk and an eyebrow raised. Scarlett rolled her eyes and face him, smirking as well attempting to follow his game. “Oh, well look who’s here!” She said in a fake-excited tone as she stood up and leaned her elbows on the counter. “I’ve been expecting you three here all day.” Not noticing the obvious sarcasm in the sentence, the tall man furrowed his eyebrows in surprise and looked at his accompaniants, who were smirking as well, and turned his gaze back at her. “Really?” the buff guy asked her. Scarlett nodded enthusiastically and grinned. “Yes! What have you guys been up to?” She asked them before saying anything that could lead to any disaster. Kindness before war, she always said. The tall man furrowed his eyebrows and adjusted his collar, “Well… you know, we’ve been playing football most of the time.” The tone in his voice made it obvious that he was lying. They were probably trying to cover up the fact that they actual do have powers and supernatural abilities, which is what most of us, different and weird people do. Scarlett giggled and rested her hand on his shoulder. “Silly,” She leaned to his ear and whispered, “I know what you are.” One of his mates who probably heard her, asked out loud, “How do you know?” She chuckled and looked at him. “I’ve seen you lot around here.” One of the guys standing behind the tallest one, walked closer to her and made Scarlett know that they were already suspecting something from her. “We’re not even from around here and clearly we’ve never seen you before.” Busted. “Uh, well, I… I’m a shape-shif-“ her words were cut out when the same boy spoke aloud. “She’s onto us.” He nodded his head towards Scarlett, which was a signal. She felt a strong force take over her and was now forcefully pushed against a wall. “Tell us who you are and what do you want.” The girl shook her head hesistantly which provoked the others more. The buff one took a strong hold of her throat and lift her up, still pushed against the wall. “Tell us!” He demanded but Scarlett wouldn’t even choke out a letter from her lips. Everything around seemed to have freezed except for the four of them.
For a brief moment, everything went silent and Scarlett felt a bit unconscious. One of the mutants in front of her was messing around with her memories and was trying to found out who she was. She know what was exactly happening or how. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t Giant Weaklings girlfriend.” The tall one said in a sing song voice. “Did he tell you about what he did and what happened? Have you come for the same, little one?” He asked making up a fake concerned voice. Instead of answering any of his sarcastic questions, Scarlett kept struggling with the hand of he who was holding her up by the neck. Receiving no answer from her, the same guy proceeded to roam around her memories and this time she could see and feel everything he was seeing. Scarlett had no control over any of this which benfited the other three. The whole scene of her and the mutants in the bar seemed to have vanished. She was sucked into a flashback. One of the worst flashbacks she had in stock.
A little Scarlett sat at the end of her bed with her arms crossed. “I knew she was going to be like this, I knew it!” She overheard her mum on the phone. She stood up and pressed her ear to the door to listen better to the conversation. The person on the other line was on speaker for her father to hear also. “Heck sake’s, there’s nothing wrong with her being a witch!” Another female voice said out loud from the other line. “What?! Everything is wrong with her being that! She’s a freak!” The words coming out of her mouth were like knives being shoved into Scarlett’s chest. She could’ve been six years old but she felt mature enough when it came to these things. “I don’t want her in my house anymore and neither does my own husband. Either you take her with you and your other bloody weird husband or I’ll get her lost!”
The talk her parents had with her godparents have bundled up all again on her mind. Something she has gotten over already would be now hunting her again. The scene was cut-off with the laughter of the mutants, “Awh, we have a ltitle, abandoned witch here!” The others laughed in chorus. “No one loves you, stupid kid. Not even your boyfriend! You should’ve heard what eh said about you; he’s only with you because he pities you.” Every word got to her and she tried her best not to fool herself to believe them even if part of it would be true. “Shut up.” She managed to say through gritted teeth and kicked the one who held her, in the stomach since it was all she could get to. The guy dropped her and, gaining as much breath as she could, Scarlett took out the wand from her backpocket and pointed it and the three of them. She started to shout spells against them but none of them seemed to work, they remained themselves. They smirked and laughed together at her unlucky attempt, “Looks like that stick of yours isn’t effective anymore, bitch.” Before any answer could be given, a loud, high-pitched scream came from the lips of Scarlett. The three of them found a way to torture her from the inside, towards the outside. It felt as if someone was squeezing every little organ inside her and was trying to tear them apart. Then a new and even worse pain, similar to the deep cuts of knifes, were felt over her back and chest. The pain was similar to two of the spells she knew; Crucio and Sectumsempra.
Scarlett's screams got even more louder but there was no hope, no help. Everything was frozen. She was alone. Suffering. The tall mutant nodded his head towards her, creating another signal. They stopped the torturing but the pain still remained in the girl. "Get rid of her." As those words were said, the two who stood on the background punched and kicked every body part possible in her to the point where they left her dropped in the floor with even a busted lip. The three stood from her pointing and laughing, "What now?" They laughed and kicked her stomach one last time. "Weakling."
Aside from the whole trembling in her body, Scarlett used the little percent of energy left in her body as she reached for her wand and weakly pointed it at the mutants. "Obliviate." And with that spell she vanished herself back to her dorm. She didn't know if memory-loss spell did worked on them but she hoped and wished it did and that it would make them forget every single ability they had in them; it was all she could do after all. Throw in the floor of her room, resembling a dead body, Scarlett tried her best to get up but it felt like she was on ice. She tried to get up but fell back down so she decided to give up. "Jayson... Jayden..." She said, her voice weak and barely audible. Looking around in her empty room, she let tears stream down her cheeks, knowing she was helpless at the moment. Eyes closed, blood-stained clothes, bruised body, Scarlett remained spreaded on the floor, looking dead to anyone who would enter the room.
No one could hear or see her. Scarlett was now a failure. She declared it.
