Ok, here we go: Tywin as emperor, Mace as ten of coins, Dany as Chariot, Mance as King of Wands, Arya as Judgement, Bran as Hermit, Jon as Fool, Sansa as Moon and Davos as six of swords maybe
So here’s my thing with Tywin as emperor. As I understand it, it’s a card that’s at least partly about stability, rules, fatherhood, and providing security. Tywin may have been a great Hand for Aerys, but during the course of the actual books he’s super destabilizing. Instead of resolving problems by going to Robert he acts in a way destined to escalate tensions. His involvement with the RW shows a disregard for deeply embedded social rules. He’s a terrible father! Tyrion sarcastically thanks Tywin for going to war for him because he knows it’s more about pride (and maybe opportunity, IIRC) than caring about Tyrion. And he inflicts damage on Tyrion himself. OTOH, when Jon Arryn went to war to protect Robert and Ned, Aerys had already turned the knob up to level 10. When he was poking around in the issue of the royal kids’ parentage with Stannis, they were trying to uphold the rules of succession as their society recognized them. And he too seemed to be the real governance power behind the throne at least when Robert would listen.
Also though, Jon Arryn’s death has a meta destabilizing effect in terms of our story. It’s his death that starts everything in motion, including the eventual fall of all these other old men representing the status quo.
Dany, I really liked her as Chariot at first. Now I’m thinking though about how she decided to stay in Meereen to prevent the instability in ... Astapor? Anyway that’s just one example and I still am considering it. But ... hrmm ...
This makes me think more of Bran than Sansa, now that I read it: “The Moon reversed can also indicate that you are receiving intuitive messages and psychic downloads, but you are struggling to understand what they mean for you.”
Can you go into why Davos for six of swords?
