after a day of rain, it was meant to be sunny today. it was meant to be hot. celeste had thought a trip to ok market would be simple excursion. she was starving, and the small supply of food in the house fridge was gone after days of avoiding going out. the ache radiating from her lower back down into her legs had only grown more vicious over time, left untreated, as celeste refused visiting healers who could do nothing but give her curious and utterly unhelpful looks.
she’d dealt with enough humiliation and ruin in the last month to last her a lifetime. she was done with that.
the so-called simple trip goes awry on her way back to the zeus house, bag over her shoulder, feet carrying her feeling full of lead and head pounding from the bright sun. the sensation knocks the wind out of her finally, and she decides it better to take a break by sitting herself on a nearby curb to catch her breath before continuing on. the pain subsiding is a pipe dream, but she can only hope. it’s the sunlight disappearing above that tips her off, head of purple hair turning up to peer at the sky when she sees the dark grey cloud forming above her. an exhausted sigh passes by her lips at the sight. she knows what’s coming – it hasn’t been all that uncommon lately – but did it have to come now ?
a miniature crack of thunder makes her audibly groan and she feels her throat tighten, emotion catching in her throat. all she can manage is an overwhelming sensation of frustration as it starts to pour down over her, rain soaking her clothes as she stares up at the pesky cloud. “ i can’t even make it home! ” she cries out before throwing her face into her hands. “ how can i possibly be making it rain ?! ”
