Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) - The First Edition

I pushed my soul in a deep dark hole and then I followed it in I watched myself crawling out as I was a-crawling in I got up so tight I couldn't unwind I saw so much, I broke my mind I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in

I always think of this song as a representation of Jasper's state right before Martina's death. His drinking was at an all-time high and had ventured out from just wine to harder spirits, and it was mixing with his newer antipsychotic medication. Jasper really hated how his medication made him feel, as he was going between deep depression and flatness to an increase in auditory hallucinations and paranoia due to the drinking. On some level, Jasper was aware that the increase in his symptoms and overall disregulation was caused by the alcohol abuse, but chose instead to stop his medication entirely. Jasper today would rather suffer through the depression than risk the hallucinations, but at the time, when he was younger and far more arrogant, he felt he could regulate himself. Jasper would be the first to tell you that he hardly remembers those months. They're just blurs of activity and lectures. Thankfully, he'd much rather forget that time altogether anyway.
