#java gel stain

A before and after of an antique table that was so abused but now she's standing tall again!  I stained the top with General Finishes Java Gel Stain and painted it with General finishes Linen Water Based Milk Paint.  It was sealed with General Finishes High Performance Water Based Top Coat Flat.  It has been placed in my booth at Rejoyce Design and Consign in Oswego, IL.

I purchased this pretty girl came about 3 weeks after I painted and sold my first buffet.  I decided to try my hand at staining the top and painting the body.  This is one of my favorite pieces to date!!  I used General Finished Java Gel Stain and General Finishes High Performance Based Top Coat - Flat on the top.  Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Pure White was used on the rest of the buffet.  I then used the same Top Coat on the body because this piece decided not to play nice and the whole body bled through the pure white making it an antique white instead.  I thought  "okay ... looks even better" so I sealed it and the sealer antiqued the finish even more.  Love how she looks and this is going to be real hard taking this to my booth at the Rusty Rooster Old and New in Sandwich, IL.

Sara from General Finishes was kind enough to agree to send me a sample of their Water Base Milk Paint.  Well .... ta dah ... LOOK WHAT I RECEIVED TODAY!!  Not only one milk paint sample, but three!  I also received an Oil Based Java Gel Stain, a High Performance Flat Top Coat and a Water Based Glaze!!!  I told Sara I would be willing to paint a piece or two and give an honest review on my blog as as well Facebook. I've never tried milk paint before and have been longing to and wanting to try a glaze as well.  Please check back for my review and the reveal soon!  ahhhhh I'm so excited!
