hello, i have another question about deers. do all fawns/deer babies has the white spots? or it's just several species that has them?
A majority of them do! However, a handful of species are born without spots: moose, reindeer/caribou, tarucas, huemuls, Javan rusa, marsh deer, and Calamanian hog deer. Most sambar are also solid colored at birth, except for Malayan sambar, which are born with faint spots that quickly fade.
Shiras' moose (Alces alces shirasi)
Woodland caribou (Rangifer tarandus caribou)
Taruca (Hippocamelus antisensis)
Huemul (Hippocamelus bisulcus)
Javan rusa (Rusa timorensis)
Marsh deer (Blastocerus dichotomus)
Calamanian hog deer (Axis calamianensis)
Sambar (Rusa unicolor)
the two new sprites i made on stream today
Cervidae family, round 1: Javan Rusa vs Lesser Brocket
Javan Rusa
Lesser Brocket
Javan rusa (Rusa timorensis)
Another tropical deer species, the Javan rusa is found on a few islands in Indonesia and East Timor. It has also been introduced to many other southern islands, including Borneo, New Guinea, and Australia, but is unfortunately declining within its original range. It is one of the main prey items for the Komodo dragon!
