I’m trying to keep up with what I’ve already done so that I can get up to what I’m doing now, so I’m gonna talk about these little chord things on Jay’s jacket let’s go.
Now. What in the hell are these. I don’t know. Originally, I had planned to use these little border things to make a smooth strip of gold to put around them, but then I was trying to sew bias strips around some weird trim and uuuuh. I raged quit real bad. I crashed out. I cried. SO I switched to just rope.
I think it COULD be rope. Realistically if it was actually rope it would have the texture and it doesn’t but that’s okay. We’re gonna let it slide unless I change my mind later.
So I went back to the craft store recently and picked up this rope trim, which originally was that pale whiteish color. There’s no way to make the rope metallic that I’m comfortable with, but we can still make it gold!! So I picked up some Rit dye and did some tests.
My first test was 3/4 marigold and 1/4 golden yellow which was waaaaaaaay too orange. So I did a second round with 3/4 golden yellow and 1/4 marigold, and produced the color in the middle. I think it’s PERFECT.
At this point, the jacket is already assembled and hemmed, but the dyed strips aren’t all the way dry, AND I have to wash the blue jacket once before I put on the chord, so all I have is the pieces right now.
I’m really happy with how it’s coming along : D
