Hey, is AO3 good? Like I know you’ve seen that reblog but I feel like my tumblr is starting to die out and it makes me really sad :/ like I’m starting to become self conscious of how good my writing is. I saw you write good things about it and was wondering your view on it?
Ao3 is literally the best thing that has happened to me.
To make an account, u need an invite so u gotta go to the site, put ur email and wait for ur invite (check ur socials part of ur email cause mines went there and I didn't see it for months)
Ao3 shows u how many people view your story which really makes you feel like people are at least reading your material. Tumblr doesn't have that option so I'm left feeling frustrated that my work isn't getting recognized.
The community is so nice. I've had people leave really thoughtful comments, calling me a lovely writer, pointing of specifics of what they like about my work. Someone even called me a queen.
The tumblr community is dying out. A lot of people left and even though I changed fandoms and wrote for multiple fandoms, my work doesn't get noticed anymore. Even though I have a tag list, if my work doesn't get reblogged then it definitely isn't getting noticed. You already know how that goes.
Ao3 made me feel motivated to write more. With the right tags, people will read. I also tend to upload at night since that's when people mostly read but timezones are different, so post whenever.
Like I said, I will post my work here just to have it on my masterlist and whoever encounters it, encounters it. You can also put ur work on ao3 and promote it elsewhere.
I wrote a fic for someone's artwork on twitter and since they have 49.5k followers and they retweeted my work, it got my story noticed by a LOT. I didn't really have an increase in followers but that's okay cause I'm working on it.
But yea, switch to that site. People are looking for all kinds of work, and I swear u will read some very nice comments if they leave any on your work
