Wrappers - Jayton
When People’s Choice caught up with Burton at the InsideOTH Convention in North Carolina last month, we asked her if she always knew that Leyton (Peyton + Lucas, obviously) was endgame.
“No, I didn’t. I didn’t at all,” Burton revealed. “I remember, season two or season three, I was told that it was going to be Peyton and Jake that ended up together and Brooke and Lucas.” (x)
Don't get me wrong I was always much more of a Brucas and Jake/Peyton fan but I don't feel like this is true. I read the article but that goes against everything that Mark Schwahn has ever said. He always said that to him it was always going to be Lucas and Peyton, so this comes as a huge shock to me. I feel like this has to have something to do with real life dynamics. I always felt like Brucas had better chemistry and it was a better story of character evolution. I mean Nathan and Haley were never an intended relationship. Mark has always said that the Nathan and Haley story would be that he used her to make Lucas jealous with the tutoring and then Haley would figure out the truth or Nathan would eventually give it up and that would be the end of it but they ended up being the cornerstone of the show. So I like the idea that these characters could have evolved to realize just because they’re so similar doesn’t mean they’re perfect for each one and that maybe they needed someone to show them something different. I feel like Lucas really made his choice in season two and knew that Brooke was the girl for him but the drama with Sophia and Chad in real life made it too much for them to stay together on the show. So then came the destruction of Brucas and Jake/Peyton.
I'm a total Leyton girl, believe me but if I had to choose for Peyton to be with anyone else, I totally would want her with Jake. I loved Jake and Peyton so much 😍
