Peace, Love, and Rock ‘N’ Roll (And Food Trucks)
CLINTON, MANHATTAN - After a chilling, slushy winter, it’s time to break out the shorts and sunglasses finally. Temperatures are steadily climbing into the sixties and seventies. That means outdoor concert season is upon us, New York.
As Neil Diamond once said (or sang), “And spring became summer,” that’s exactly what weather in New York has been doing lately. And it’s true. It will be summer in the blink of an eye. Music lovers will be able to wander their favorite parks and venues as the sun shines down and the warm breeze fills the air.

New York is notorious for promoting free outdoor concerts for the general public at various locations. During the summer, Central Park is a popular concert venue for big and small acts alike during their Summer Stage season, but for those interested in a different venue away from the huge crowds in Central Park, one should consider JBL Live at Pier 97 in Clinton.
A part of the Hudson Riverside Park, this venue is ideal for those who are looking for a unique, scenic concert venue to see a variety of shows throughout the spring and summer months. To the west you have the sun setting over the Hudson and to the east you have New York’s iconic skyline, the only thing left is great music and food (fortunately here, you get both).

While Pier 97 only hosts a handful of concerts each year, many of the acts are big names and cost a pretty penny to see live. The 2015 season welcomes a range of artists from Barenaked Ladies to Meghan Trainor to Counting Crows to Sublime, along with many others. Because there is no seating, the general admission floor gives concert-goers an intimate feel. It is not difficult for fans to be up close and personal near the stage.
And needless to say, fans don’t have to travel far to get a decent dinner during the show. An impressive line of food trucks line the pier offering everything from tacos to burgers to gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. And of course, every great grilled cheese needs a good drink to go with it--concert-goers who are 21 and older can enjoy the multiple bar trucks on site as well for freshly-made cocktails and beer.
JBL Live at Pier 97 is a desirable alternative to the free outdoor concerts found around New York this summer. Last summer, the venue hosted major headliners including Iggy Azalea and Lorde.
