The perfect opportunity for JD "Two Phones" Amato to go undercover with his two phones! @thechrisgethardshow
Oof this one was painful. The Special’s executive producers Chris Gethard & JD Amato implement mandatory changes to the show and I cringe for an hour. The thumbnail is the only time I smile. Also, there’s music from B Boys, a terrific band out of Brooklyn!
The Special without Brett Davis is a live weekly variety show that brings new, different, terrible hosts each week, all of them NOT comedian Brett Davis. There are special guests, great bands, the best names in NYC underground comedy and wildly different episodes every Wednesday at 11pm.

When we took over the timeslot of The Chris Gethard Show on MNN in 2014, we granted TCGS producers Chris Gethard & JD Amato the titles of "executive producers" as something of an honorary title to thank them for the opportunity. To our surprise, we learned they have never watched...until a recent Google Alert brought their attention to the show. And they are NOT happy. They are flexing their executive producer titles and implementing some radical (and mandatory) changes to bring on a new, better era for the show. One major one is interactivity. We will be taking your calls and asking YOU for your suggestions on how to improve the show. Whatever you suggest, we HAVE to do. This cannot be stressed enough. Plus, we'll have music from Brooklyn's B Boys!
Stuff’s going down on The Special next week.

Gonna miss these guys!
Starting up episode 8 of 12 Hour Day. Beautiful podcast that runs over 12 hours per episode. You just hear these two guys hang out, and go places, talk to people they know.
It’s strangely intimate. It goes on long enough that they can’t keep performing the whole time. They go through moods, through states of being (I hear I have 3 hours of sleeping on a plane to look forward to! And the weird thing is this is kind of exciting??), through ideas. You hear anecdotes sometimes repeated. It leads you as a listener to feel like you know them in ways you can only know people by spending time with them. Or, more than that sometimes, because it’s not like you are having brief interactions where neither let their guard down. It is a whole show about letting your guard down.
I just think it’s a cool example of what can be done in the medium. It’s interesting how personal it is, and that it’s personal in a way that I haven’t really seen elsewhere. It isn’t cutting deep, or telling hard truths, usually. Though it does get there a little. It isn’t about exposing pain or secrets, but about exposing basic, unadorned humanity. Just who they are to be around.
Also I have found it a useful show for times when I do not spend as much time around other people. It gives a bit of the feeling of being social. Helpful for people like me who are sick and can’t always have a huge social life!
Episode 8 and 9 just got posted. That’s over 4.5 days of audio. Maybe check it out? Here’s a link.

This is the goddamn best. Watch it.
Someone in our TCGS Office Chat sent these balloons to director J.D Amato after he performed a monologue on cam at 2am. We believe someone named “Goopgoop” is responsible, but nobody knows for sure.
