Before Wonder Tales drops let me posit one theory I've been sitting on for years
WHAT IF THE FORGOTTEN QUEEN WASN'T THE MONSTER THAT DESTROYED PLUM THE CONQUEROR
WHAT IF THAT WAS CAPTAIN CRIMSON HIMSELF
The lyrics of Sail contain a lot of guilt and self deprication. Reflecting the feelings Crimson must be harbouring.
We see at the begining Crimson comes to with thick rope around his wrists that have been snapped. Something that would have taken a tremendous force to do.
The Danceverse Story we get of Sail's back story never really specifies what the crew's interaction with the forgotten queen was like. Just that they came across her.
So heres what I think happenend...
Plum The Conqueror arrives at the cave looking for the promised riches
Some lingering curse energy, likley coming off The Forgotten Queen hits Captain Crimson, briefley turning him into a rampaging monster.
The crew attempt to contain him to bring him back to his senses but he's able to break free.
The Forgotten Queen watching this, as it is her cave, and intervenes taking the crew off the boat. She was the Queen of the Melosia Realms, she still cares for it's people.
She and Crimson fight aboard The Conqueror. She has had centuries of practice of her monster form. And is able to subdue him below decks and he turns back to his original state. However during the battle the mooring lines or anchor lines snapped due to choppy seas.
The ship goes adrift. With it's captain in tow. The Queen is buffeted of the Deck as she is magically imprisoned in this cave.
The crew are still stuck within the cave, including Crimson's lover Plum. With no boat to leave on, they have no choice but to wait for rescue along side the realm's Queen.
I don't know how close to the truth this will be or if this even makes any sense. I guess for the first one, we will find out soon enough
