Whumpril 2026: All my entries for this year’s Whumpril. Contains short stories and fanart that focus on a different Just Dance coach each day. Will involve blood and other disturbing themes, but it won’t venture into distressing or gory territory. Viewer discretion is advised. Bojack wasn’t just a toxic friend

For Diane, Princess Carolyn, and Todd, he was their parent wound.

Diane 📝

Bojack was her father wound. Her dad belittled and invalidated her, and then she found a “friend” who did the exact same thing. She gravitated to the familiar because that’s what we do with trauma.

Todd 🍕

Bojack was his stepdad wound. His stepdad rejected him, treated him like a nuisance. Bojack did the same: dismissed him, exploited him, made him feel small.

Princess Carolyn ⌚️

Bojack was her mother wound. She grew up taking care of her alcoholic mom, and with Bojack she just kept replaying the cycle. Cleaning up his shit, sacrificing her needs, hoping hard work would earn her love.

That’s the gut punch of the show

Bojack wasn’t just their mess of a friend. He was the embodiment of their unfinished childhood pain.

And here’s the thing...

Their arcs are powerful because they finally break the cycle.

Diane walks away from her “dad”

Princess Carolyn stops mothering a grown man.

Todd sets boundaries and refuses to be minimized.

The parents hurt them first. Bojack made them relive it.

But they’re the ones who got out.

They don’t fix him. They don’t win his love. They choose themselves.

That’s why their arcs are some of the strongest cycle breaking moments in the show.

i do like how tumblr tags work as like a quieter less intrusive part of the post/reblog however my one gripe is that due to the nature of them being tags you cant make #thing jokes as effectively

I've recently been thinking about cupioromanticism (not being romantically attracted to people but still desiring a romantic relationship).

It's been at the back of my mind for a while, but I've suddenly realised that I honestly have no idea what romantic attraction actually feels like. I've definitely felt sexual attraction towards women and aesthetic attraction to all genders, it's just the romance aspect I'm struggling with. There have been moments where I *thought* I was attracted to someone, but I don't know if I was anymore. I never felt those "butterflies" or that feeling of being drawn to them. I probably decided I had a crush on them because I wanted to have a crush on them, because I wanted to experience romance. I really really want a girlfriend and to experience a close, personal partnership.

I may be on the aro spectrum, or this may be an autism thing where I struggle to differentiate emotions. It may be a similar situation with my gender identity where I overthought everything until I decided not to label it at all. Who knows. I've never dated anyone, let alone had a girlfriend. Maybe it'll make more sense once I suck it up and ask someone out.

Whatever. I have assignments to work on. I'll figure it out later.

No more sleeping with my phone within reach because I was having an extremely vivid dream that I was the victim of some sort of mass-poisoning. the notorious poisoner? "The Centipede Cult." They used a specific type of poison, referred to only by its chemical nomenclature, which I somehow remembered perfectly upon waking. It went: □□ Na({}^{2})

Because that makes sense. Anyway, this poison would submit me to its well-known and much-feared symptom: "17 Day Paralysis" in which you're paralyzed for exactly 17 days and you only chance of survival is to be on full machine support for 17 days.

Just before the medical team intubated me I remembered I have a Zoom meeting with my academic advisor today (I actually do in real life) and I needed to email him to let him know I was the victim of a mass-poisoning and would need to reschedule.

I kept trying to type the "□" symbol in my dream but could not figure out how and gave up.

I woke up in real life to find I'd begun drafting an email in my sleep to my professor in the Gmail app. I was apparently using talk-to-text (I often do because of my hand neuropathy) but speaking in Irish, which talk-to-text never understands, so other than the words in English "poison" and "centipede" the entire email was complete nonsense.
