I'm not naive. I'm a realist. And so, I know this was no angelic family. But to look at this family photo and know all of them are gone now........ well, it's the final chapter in a 20th century book, isn't it, coming to a close. Good and bad, the Kennedy's were a sporting lot. Pain, and they had more than their share, was never weighted on the public. That's what you did then, younger peeps. You privately dealt with hardships and walked on, the Happy Warrior. Spilling your guts was not done. Maybe touchy-feely shrinks don't espouse that mindset anymore, but there's something to be said for having respect for the outside world that you don't burden them with your troubles. Well educated. Well raised. Well coiffed and clothed. Polite in public. Trained in the niceties and social decorum. ~~~ Yet pick-up tackle football games by the beach can only go on for so long... As JFK said, "We are all mortal." And what we think is strong and invincible in our youth, will eventually pass, even the memory of the existence fading over time. I will miss them all, every one. Good and bad, doesn't matter.
