FACE YOUR JEBUSITE!
“ And the king (David) and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who said to David, “You will not come in here, but the blind and the lame will ward you off”—thinking,“David cannot come in here.” Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, that is, the city of David. And David said on that day, “Whoever would strike the Jebusites, let him get up the water shaft to attack ‘the lame and the blind,’ who are hated by David’s soul.” Therefore it is said, “The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.”
2 Samuel 5:6-8
Is Jebusite is really that strong even the blind and the lame can destroy Israel?
First, let see who is the Jebusite
When God promised to give Abraham a land for his descendants, it was described as being inhabited by many tribes, including the Jebusites.The Jebusites were a Canaanite tribe who inhabited Jerusalem. In other words,we can conclude the Jebusites took control of Jerusalem after the time of the Israelite conquest.
Jebus was the strongest fortress in Canaan
but neither Judah nor Benjamin had been successful in permanently dislodging the Jebusite inhabitants
Joshua 15:63 states that Judah could not dislodge the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem ("to this day the Jebusites live there with the people of Judah"). in other words, Joshua can't get rid the Jebusite
Judges 1:21 portrays the Jebusites as continuing to dwell at Jerusalem, within the territory otherwise occupied by the Tribe of Benjamin. and the children of Benjamin suffered the Jebusites to dwell among them (Jdg. 1:21 ), and they grew so upon them that it became a city of Jebusites. In other words, Judges such as Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon, Tola, Jair, Jephthah, Ibzan, Elon, Abdon, and Samson, no one can’t get rid the Jebusite. and don't forget also Saul who is from the tribe of benjamin, even can’t face the Goliath neither Jebusite.NO ONE CANT KNOCKOUT JEBUSITE.
The Jebusites had been defeated a number of times, but always seemed to come back strong. Shalom was added to the name because it meant peace. This signified that Jerusalem was a city of peace. These Jebusites were proud, obstinate people, who thought they could not be overthrown.
So, WHY MUST JEBUSITE?
By taking Jerusalem, David was able to eliminate the foreign wedge between the northern and southern tribes and to establish his capital.
after David was anointed king over all Israel, was to gain Jerusalem out of the hand of the Jebusites, which, because it belonged to Benjamin, he could not well attempt till that tribe, which long adhered to Saul’s house (1 Chr. 12:29 ), submitted to him

How can the blind and lame will ward David?
David is being taunted – “even our weakest members could keep you out!”
It looks remarkably like school-yard behavior from our childhood – “You throw like a girl!” “Oh, yeah, well, you ARE a girl!” The Jebusites taunted the Israelites and mocked the power of David by boasting that the blind and the lame could defend Jerusalem against him
They confided either: The mentioning of “the lame and the blind” is probably an ancient play on words and David” calls them all lame and blind
In the protection of their gods, which David, in contempt, had called the blind and the lame, for they have eyes and see not, feet and walk not. "But,’’ say they, "these are the guardians of our city, and except thou take these away (which thou canst never do) thou canst not come in hither.’’
Probably they set blind and lame people, invalids or maimed soldiers, to make their appearance upon the walls, in scorn of David and his men, judging them an equal match for him.
The enemies of God's people are often very confident of their own strength, and most secure when their day to fall draws nigh. But the pride and insolence of the Jebusites animated David, and the Lord God of hosts was with him. The city was thought of as impossible to penetrate. They had overlooked the water system, and possibly, some of David's men went in through the gutter, spoken of above, into the city. They would have had to wade in the water, probably, shoulder deep to get in that way. The tunnel wide enough for one person to pass through, which runs north-south and measures 50 meters in length so far. Both ends, at this point, are blocked by debris and fallen stones.
The brave men, who would slip into the city this way, would be given the high positions of chief and captain. It appears that Joab was one of the volunteers who went in and then he regained his position in David's army.
All of their powerful boastings was to no avail. David took Zion. Zion was the hill on the southwest corner. It is, also, the place the LORD chose for the sight of the temple later. The city of David is Jerusalem
Thus in the day of God's power, Satan's stronghold, the human heart, is changed into a habitation of God through the Spirit, and into a throne on which the Son of David rules, and brings every thought into obedience to himself. The Jebusites, Christ’s enemies,aka our “UNSOLVED PROBLEM” or “THE MOUNTAIN THAT SEEMS MOCKING US THAT WE NEVER WIN” must first be conquered and dispossessed, the blind and the lame taken away, and then Christ divides the spoil, sets up his throne there, and makes it his residence by the Spirit. We can do it with God!
