Blank Newspaper Announces Readers Poll Winners

Blank Newspaper’s annual readers poll is out and some familiar faces and places have earned recognition in Knoxville.

Congratulations to Jeff Blank for winning the title of Knoxville’s favorite comedian. You can catch Jeff every Tuesday as host of Comedy on Tap, a weekly open mic at The Casual Pint: Downtown. The runner-up in the readers’ poll was Knoxville comedy alumni and local-boy-done-good Trae Crowder, who continues to win fans nationwide on his WellRed Comedy Tour. Other members of the Knoxville comedy scene who earned special recognition include:

Frank Murphy (Einstein Simplified, SomeAntics) - Best Emcee, 1st Place

Pilot Light (Friendlytown) - Best Small Venue, 1st Place; Best Dive Bar, 2nd Place; Best Bathroom Graffiti, 2nd Place

Scruffy City Hall (Einstein Simplified, Open Door Comedy) - Best Small Venue, 2nd Place; Best Bloody Mary, 2nd Place

Sugar Mama’s (True Grit Comedy) - Best Trivia Night, 2nd Place

Since arriving in Knoxville a couple of years ago, Tyler has become a key element of the Scruffy City comedy scene. Whether discussing his love of music, making wry observations on life in general, or addressing his rapidly devolving ways of fighting "the Man," Tyler's comedy is sharply written and an enjoyable time for all. Before joining us in Knoxville, Tyler had performed comedy in Washington, DC, for several years where he founded a couple of popular comedy shows there. We're grateful to have him here on the scene in Knoxville, where he not only performs, but also produces shows introducing us to great traveling comedians. He is also a regular contributor to the QED Comedy Laboratory and an enthusiastic cheerleader of comedy in Knoxville in general.

In 2014, he was a featured local performer at the Scruffy City Comedy Festival, and was also an invited performer at the Orlando Indie Comedy Festival.
