The Jeffersons Salamander is an endangered species found in Southern Ontario, mainly along the Niagara Escarpment. Habitat loss and degradation caused by urban development, draining of wetlands and some resource extraction activities have resulted in a decline of salamander numbers in southern Ontario. - Today is #EndangeredSpeciesDay, a day created to spread awareness of how fragile the existence of animals, plants, and insects are – and, most importantly, remind us to take the time to learn about why it’s so important to protect endangered species from any further harm. - #jeffersonssalamander #endangeredspecies #nilasivatheesan #salamander
