To my disappointment, I have not yet been able to find any broadcast—audio or video, live or deferred, anything at all!—of the Beethoven Missa Solemnis performed at the brand new Elbphilharmonie as part of the concert hall’s opening festival earlier this week. However, a kind informant put me onto this episode of a German TV newsmagazine with a story on the performance, including footage from the rehearsal and a brief interview with tenor soloist Klaus Florian Vogt. We get several glimpses of him, Sarah Connolly, and the other two soloists (Camilla Nylund and Luca Pisaroni), including a bit of singing action near the end of the segment.
The whole segment, including the anchor’s intro, runs from about 00:24:25 to 00:27:37. I am not sure how long the episode will remain available for viewing on demand.
The concert reportedly earned an eleven-minute ovation. Twitterers Bettina Bermbach and shochi posted curtain call pix and Patrik Klein shared a nice one on Facebook.
