But Evil!Cater (not ACTUALLY evil, if I wanted I could, but half evil is more fun) who does totally “befriend” people to like get them to do things for him, or to talk to him about drama. Sure he can just use his phone, and take drama from online; but any good rumour mill isn’t so public. If you want the good stuff, you gotta hear it from others directly.
So Cater makes these “connections” so when people need someone to talk to about “this crazy thing,” he always presents himself as someone ready to hear the gossip. Like, the both of them knows it’s a sort of “superficial” relationship, just for gossip; but Cater is exceptionally good at making people thing that they’re the only one that comes to him.
Everyone always assumes that Jade is the sneaky one, and that if you don’t want something aired out you make sure he’s not around. But in reality, it’s Cater; who knows exactly how to downplay his role, who know how to make himself approachable and unassuming, who can play a room of people like an automated orchestra. Just a few right button presses and people are singing.
Cater could make your best friend snitch without them even noticing, he’s just so friendly! He wouldn’t do that! It also helps that he never actually says anyone’s name, just “I heard from someone that…” or long trails of interwoven messages like a crazy game of telephone.
