theory of evolution, an overview of 20th Century architecture / Charles Jencks
Evolutionary Tree 2000: a Century of Architecture by Charles Jencks
Hello friends! Happy Bunny Day. Because of Bunny Day festivities, our regularly scheduled installment of dead guy bickering will be postponed.
However, I still wanted to share some theory love with you, so I’ve included one of my favorite charts by Charles Jencks, a theorist known for his writing on Postmodern architecture.
Jencks’ charts in the various editions of The Language of Postmodern Architecture were how high-school me began building up a large lexicon of buildings, architects, and ideas. Even now, I use them to think about questions of interrelatedness, and to quiz myself on my own memory!
Have a great week everyone - I’ll see you Wednesday!
