A Drabble for The Testing

As I walked out the doors of my room, I avoided thinking about the itching feeling in my stomach, making my way towards the dining hall. I stood in line as I always did, ordered the same food I always did and sat at my normal seat. I felt a hand gently lay itself on my shoulder, and as I turned my head to see who it was attached to, I immediately grinned in joy. The nostalgic feeling I got from Thomas's face shadowing over mine was relaxing, and for the first time in a while, I was able to relax my shoulders and breathe in a deep breath of crisp morning air.

Drabble for The Tragedy Paper

All I could see was Vanessa's beautiful face in front of mine, smiling with that gorgeous grin that she always had on her face. She gently grabbed my hand, and began pulling me with her. I could see her lips moving but I couldn't hear a sound out of her mouth. I didn't care though, because I knew she was happy and I was finally with her. She pulled at my arm until we reached our bench, the place we shared our first kiss. She urged me to sit down, and I couldn't help but comply. The next moment I felt her lips pressed against mine, so longing that it seemed like she would never let me go. I closed my eyes and allowed myself to fall into pleasure, into sheer happiness, but that wouldn't last long. When I opened my eyes, all I could see was black, but that came as no shock to me. Reality came pouring into me, and I couldn't move. I had only been dreaming, back to when everything was still perfect. Back when I was still able to see, when I still had Vanessa, and when the thing I stressed most about was my senior paper.

Book Review for The Testing

The Testing The Testing, written by Joelle Charbonneau, is one of my favorite books of all time. It fits in well with the Hunger Games and Divergent series, as it has a similar plot line, strong female lead, and is a life or death adventure with a nice thriller component. It follows the life of Malencia, who goes by Cia, in a dystopian universe placed after a worldwide plague where the survivors are divided into colonies. Each year a few graduating students get chosen for the testing, which takes place in the capital and opens up opportunities for them to go to the university and become upper class citizens. For the first time in centuries, four students from Cia's small colony, including her, get chosen and transported to the capital. There, she faces seemingly insurmountable challenges which take a large toll on not only her body, but her sanity as well. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a thrill or who likes to solve a mystery book before finishing it. Throughout her adventures, Cia has to decide who she can and cannot trust throughout the variety of trials she has to pass and problems she has to solve, which makes this book even more fun to read. It makes you want to come up with the correct answer before she can, and to test if you could survive through the challenges of being selected. Cia makes the perfect strong female lead, completing virtually impossible challenges and doing ridiculous things we could only dream of doing. She connects you to the book in ways not just any character could, which is one of the main reasons I cannot help but recommend this book, The Testing, by Joelle Charbonneau.

Drabble for The Rules

We decided to settle down in the woods for the night, as it would be best to avoid any populous areas where someone might recognise either of us. Once we found a decent spot, we decided to try and find a water source. After about an hour, Zane called out to me as he found a large stream that appeared to have clean water. We waded into the water and drank our fill until we both felt like we could throw up at any moment, and we retreated to the bank. Zane expressed an interest in washing himself off after our day of travel through the woods, so I left him to clean himself as I retreated to find some edible plants.
