Today's featured stone is... JENNITE! Today is my birthday, so I was tickled to find a crystal that started with "Jen". I was not able to find any metaphysical properties about this beautiful, rare crystal, so I thought I would share a little geological info with you instead. Jennite is a calcium silicate hydrate mineral. It occurs as an alteration mineral in metamorphosed limestone and skarn. It typically occurs as vein and open space fillings as a late mineral phase. It was named for Clarence Marvin Jenni (1896-1973), American mineral collector and director of the Geological Museum, University of Missouri. It is a soft crystal with the MOH's hardness of 3.5.
