could it have something to do with his mother working with the SR / S&SB prior to his birth? otherwise idk
oh yeah, Control is Forever Deeply Influenced™ on, like, five million different levels. sorta his whole thing, right? :’D saying anything he does isn’t somehow influenced by Area X seems off.
(also, nitpick/because i care so deeply about the SR timeline: there’s a line that says that Jackie had Control while she was still doing deskwork, and only moved to active fieldwork -- and presumably, the S&SB -- once Control was a few years old)
maybe the slight confusion there is that those “dream sequences” are set aside from the narrative quite a bit -- they’re chapters 000 of part one and 000 of part three, in present tense when everything else is in the past tense, etc. so maybe that’s The Deal.
