As a language teacher, can I just say that mispronouncing foreign names is normal? Phonology is complex and differs in every language system so of course a Japanese person won't be able to correctly pronounce Larissa considering they don't have the "L" sound in their native phonological system. Same thing goes for an English native speaker and the subtle difference of ㄹ (depending on the phoentic environment) in Korean. If English speaking people can't correctly pronounce the "a" in my German name and choose to use the English version, of course they won't be able to easily pronounce korean names. And that's fine. It's all about the good intention 😌
omg thank you so much saying all this ♡ sometimes we feel guilty for not being able to pronounce something correctly but we have to accept that this is something normal. and dont blame ourselves for it.
ps. i'm here trying to pronounce larissa LAKSAKSKAS
@jeonsdear 's favourite fanfiction at the time, written by me (duh)
@jeonsdear - i see on my dash that you’re talking about dicks rn. can i bless you with a nice view?
i saw that tweet today saying: "name one woman who hasn’t been fat shamed, skinny shamed, sexually assaulted, harassed in a workplace or catcalled. you probably can’t & THAT is why we say the phrase ‘men are trash’, not because we are going for the wrong boys." and I think that sums it up pretty nicely
I literally don’t even know how to answer this with because this TRULY says it all. Period. Thank u for sharing this, it encapsulates my thoughts EXACTLY
"the chair looking bad that jimin no longer sits on it" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
right it looks like kylo ren when he’s mad 😭😭
I just read your addition to the missionary text post going around Tumblr and I...I'm SO INTRIGUED. This literally made me question whether I'd find God (always struggled with it) if I didn't see Christianity through the eyes of the modern churches.
wow, I'm so glad to hear it! the good news is, I'm absolutely not the first person to be saying these things. if you'd like to do some more research, what you're looking for is liberation theology. it started in Latin America when communists were being gunned down for resisting oppression, but it's spread and grown in other places too! there's black liberation theology, queer theology, feminist and womanist theology, all kinds! however, theological texts can be pretty dense, so my personal recommendation is Damon Garcia on YouTube. I'd recommend this video as a good place to start: https://youtu.be/FRWYksBCj9s
and, of course, feel free to ask me any questions you have! I have lots of Opinions, they may not always be Objectively Correct, but I hope they make me act like a better person, and to me that's what matters.
