My ‘Best’ Writing of 2017
Tagged by my lovelies, @jencala and @jepierrex to list the best things I wrote in 2017, which to be honest is pretty much my worst nightmare lol. Self praise? Introspection? Pretending I like anything I do ever? Still, I’m trying to give my anxiety the middle finger right now. It’s a new tactic. We’ll see what happens. 💚 AH. Okay.
This was a year of writing new pairings for me, and I feel so much better. Drarry is still life, but there is such a beautiful world of rarer pairs out there that I am in love with too.
So, Top Five Things I wrote this year:
1. October: This fic is Flintwood, was my first long attempt at Rare Pairs, and it nearly killed my muse. Like, it took me WEEKS to recover. But I’m okay, because I actually really, really love how it turned out. The ‘no HEA’ tag seems scary, and so it hasn’t been all that popular, but LONG HAIR DON’T CARE because I’m proud of that piece, gosh darn it.
2. A Constant Tangle of Fragments: I pinch wrote this Jily for @hogwartshousesnet in like 24 hours, from writing to beta to post, and the pressure made it actually...work. It’s still one of my favourite things I’ve *ever* written.
3. Harry Potter and the Boy on the Train: This weird little canon AU buddy taught me so much about writing WIP and also became the most controversial thing I’ve ever written 😂 I love to raise hell, so I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. The plunny was a prompt, and I really enjoyed the adventure.
4. Moving Soft: I set this one in Amsterdam, one of my favourite places on the planet, and it made it super fun to write. Plus, undercover Drarry is my jam.
5. And We Were Revellers: The closest we’ve ever come to me writing my Guilty Pleasure Pair of Draco/Neville, and a threesome, and SUPER FUN to write. Challenging smut is kinda intimidating, and it took me forever. I’m glad I persevered.
BONUS: Writing the new ship of Alectrix has been fun. Death Eaters emotions are confusing 😕
