Happy Birthday, Jed and Jer!

Today is Jedidiah Robert Duggar and Jeremiah Robert Duggar’s 23rd Birthday.  Fraternal twins, they were both minutes apart on December 30, 1998.  They are the second set of twins born to Jim Bob + Michelle (Ruark) Duggar.

Jed is married Katelyn Koryn (“Katey”) Nakatsu in April 2020, and they are now expecting their First Child.  (Katey is due in April 2021.)  They live in Springdale, Arkansas, in a house on–site at Champion Motorcars car lot.

Jer recently announced that he is courting Hannah Marlys Wissmann.  Jer lives at the Duggars’ Big House in Tontitown, Arkansas.  He’s a licensed pilot / flight instructor, and is involved in MediCorps.

Okay if Warden Bates is maybe courting, then he has FOUR older brothers who are still single (except for Nathan, but who knows what’s really happening there): Lawson, Nathan, Trace and Jackson.

Justin Duggar also has four brothers who are very much single still: Jed, Jer, Jason and James. 

Both of them only have one older sister who is not married yet: Jana Duggar and Katie Bates, although Katie Bates is in a serious courtship. 

What is going on with fundie guys that they’re getting married so much later? Is it the relative “freedom” they get in the fundie lifestyle to do what they want, live outside the house (like Jer, Jed and Lawson definitely are), travel as much as they can and want? Is it maybe harder to find a girl who will live under the Bates family rules, and as the man of the household you’d be responsible for it? The failed courtships with some of them point to this being an issue, but then again Zach married Whitney and she wears pants and shows her arms/shoulders and even (used to?) work(s) outside the house. Is it the fact that fundie husbands are expected to be able to provide for their families, maybe? But really, Joe and Josiah “only” work for JB and are married, Ben works for JB, and Lawson, Nathan and Trace all have jobs and/or ways that would allow them to provide..
