Kody needs a calendar for all the kids birthdays. Thats the thing with polygamy, how can u remember 18 kids birthdays and 4 wives birthdays? Its a lot for anyone 🤷🏾‍♀️

Mr. SC said the same thing lol we hate the guy but during that scene he was like "ok but the guy has like 20 kids he's bound to forget sometimes". But I guess that's also more reason to have multiple reminders, and I really feel like that should be the case for the kids you're trying to repair relationships with.

He needs 2 things:

1. A maintained Google Calendar with alerts a week ahead of the birthday so he can send the gift/card.

2. A file organizer with a file for each a month & cards already in there for each kid ready to be signed. Bring a list of everyone to Hallmark, pick ‘em all out once or twice per year, and have their names on them with the month of their birthday. Keep a sheet of fun birthday stamps and a good pen with the folders. Have some generic baby, engagement, and sympathy cards on hand so you’re not scrambling for those, too.

I have a VERY large extended family, and absolutely love to send cards to them. It goes a long way to maintain a relationship from states away, and shows people you care and remember them. It takes a bit of prep and thought, but it’s honestly not hard work compared to the joy it brings.

The ‘affordable modesty’ must’ve gone out of the window when Erin did. $42 for a casual cheaply made dress is a whole lot more than they used to sell for. IIRC, their highest prices when their first started was about $30.

The fact that Kelton first took interest in Josie when she was a minor and essentially laid in wait for her to become a legal adult before making his move—AND that her parents seemingly saw no issue with this—will never sit right with me.

I totally get what you mean but in her parents' defense, they actually did see an issue with it and essentially made her stop talking to Kelton when they first started getting close (when she was 14 and he was I think 19).

The whole situation gives me hella red flags.....Kelton was 19/20 when he became obsessed with basically an eighth-grader and it was an intense enough obsession that it made her parents uncomfortable about the relationship (fundie parents at that....the kind who are usually ok with marrying off daughters young).

I feel like the normal person thing to do in that situation would be to respect that decision and maybe leave your 14 year old crush alone, try to move on, etc. But he didn't and, like you mentioned, just sat around waiting for her to turn 18 so her parents wouldn't have a legal say in anything she did (her bday is August 4th and he asked her on the 10th the year she turned 18).

Now I don't think Kelton did all of this knowingly tbh, I think he really believes it was all genuine and that he was being romantic, but that doesn't make it any less unhealthy or inappropriate.

!!!*NOTE*!!! because this *always* happens to me when I talk about age-gaps: I don't need to hear about your parents who have a 20-yr age gap and are the happiest people alive or whatever. At best it isn't relevant (it matters how old they were when they got together), at worst it's also creepy and I don't want to have to tell you that lol.

Just because it used to be common or because it happened in your family and worked out doesn't mean it's ok or should be happening in this or other situations. I am very happy for the couple in your life that had a huge age gap and had a happily ever after, but they are the exception to the rule please realize this.

In another question they said the official owners are Whitney and Carlin, but they added in that when Erin stepped away Kelly stepped "on the manager side of thing," mostly managing the "curvy" line.

Interesting! I think Whitney and Carlin wanted to make the boutique much more trendy and not too fundie to broaden their target market which Erin might’ve had a problem with since she is hardcore modest and feminine. I can see Whit/Carlin thinking that Erin/Chad could possibly hinder potential earnings by limiting their audience to one set of specific buyers.

My hunch on this is also that Erin is more fundie than the other two, but her leaving is based on her belief on women working. The boutique got big real quick, grew out of being a side business out of her brother’s house, and needed her more involved and putting in hours outside of the home. Her lil online business selling prayer cards is fine for a fundie mom, but not full-time work that takes her focus “from the home”. She’s older than Carlin and grew up in the full-fledged fundie universe and probably believes pretty deeply that her purpose is entirely raising up her children and making a home for Chad.
