why can`t people just enjoy both. this isn`t a competition.

i don’t think it’s important that people enjoy both. i think anyone should feel free to dislike mshep. the issue is posting about it. 

and the word competition is really relevant here.  mshep was always used in marketing and/or merchandise while fshep wasn't. and that feels unfair and really frustrating to people. most of them know not to turn their anger about the situation against mshep and/or his players but the rest... they’re really bad.

(and not a specific reply to you but if anyone is wondering why it bothers me so much when the whole thing might seem trivial or unnecessary fandom drama:)

if a kid who isn’t cis and who identifies with mshep (they’re not that rare!) posts about him and talks about how much they love him, their excitement will quickly go away once they see the bashing posts that seem to directly imply their taste is garbage and how they identify is wrong. people will deny they’re targeting the kid but let’s put ourselves in their shoes. 

The posts I see (so often that it’s now a classic) go like this:

"every time i see someone posting about mshep" -> "hey kid who just posted about him and who might identify with him" "i'm just so confused lmao!!! like who's this? where's the real shepard?" -> "what’s wrong with you? why can’t you identity with the right person?"

and often in the tags they go on and on about how they think mshep (custom or sheploo) is ugly so yeah. wonderful message to send.

it’s like telling the kid “you’re all wrong. you should feel safe in this fandom to find out more about yourself, discover and shape your identity but really you just don’t belong. but you know, we’re saying all those shitty things to you because we’re very clever and very woke.”

i want that kid to know that no, those people aren’t woke. (and if might not be a kid, btw. i took the example of a kid but we can wonder about our identity all the time. a lot of people do wonder but we don’t see them around here. they’re either gone or they’re lurking for a reason.)

20. Are you religious?Nope. Not at all. Raised out of the church, i do not trust organized religion... and well yeah... I believe you should just be a good person for good person’s sake.

24. Baths or showers?Showers! I don’t have the patience for baths.

33. What do you typically have for breakfast?One fried egg, over medium. Double protein english muffin. Smear of horseradish pub cheese. Maybe a slice of ham or bacon if i have it, but not required.

1.Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with? 

Jafar grew up with his mom and occasionally his dad, and that was about all his family during his childhood. Currently, he has found out about his dad’s family who rejected both him and his mom, but has met and somehow managed to befriend his cousin Dee, who is a year younger than him. They are kind of close despite clashing about practically everything, but they both feel like they should make the effort to get to know one another despite their differences.

12.In what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been? 

When he was a pit fighter in his late teens, he and his boyfriend had planned to get rich, get out and get married in Jafar’s place of birth, and then get Jafar’s mom a nice place to live and go off to adventure together. They had it all figured out and Jafar was feeling pretty confident about their chances and about being able to provide for his mother, and knowing his life was financially solved and that he had a partner he trusted gave him peace of mind for a long time.

22.What does your character like in other people?

He likes people who are loud and funny and make him laugh, and people who like the same things as him and who get excited easily and have a lot of energy - he appreciates quieter people too, but there are more chances that he will get bored. He also likes recklessness and bravery and people who are skilled in battle and can take a punch.

29.What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?

He wanted to be a hero like in the stories - a dragon hunter, or someone who inspired stories and awe. He became a murderer instead :’)

Do they value friendship a lot?Adelein doesn’t know, at the moment a ‘friend’ is somebody who is loyalty her, who she can trust, who doesn’t judge her but guides her towards a sense of mutual understanding with patience. People are assets to Adelein, but she’s still exploring the concept of friendship. She’s used to people being apprehensive of her–and not giving a shred of concern in that regard–but lately the interconnection of others with her own life is intriguing and brings about a questioning sense of empathy that is learned and not natural. 10: How do they deal with strangers?Cautiously, with varying levels of interest. Adelein can gauge a lot from a single interaction or context of meeting with someone. She also lacks in feeling intimidation by other’s in a sense that’s both admirable and foolhardy. She also doesn’t believe in putting up a facade for first impressions, the Adelein you meet for the first time is the Adelein she always will be, blunt and intriguing.17: Do they have any guilty pleasures? They embarrassed about them? Do they flaunt them?She’s surprisingly one without vices and a need for self-indulgence. Most of the guilty pleasures that other’s find difficult to break away from, Adelein has no interest in. Drugs?–no, Sex?–no at all, drinking?–despises it. Even for somebody that frequently murders other’s she doesn’t take any pleasure in doing so, it’s just an action that is a mean-to-an-end. She’s real fun at parties. So my Shep’s one and only LI as Garrus and I have A LOT headcanons about them x) I love thinking that they spend much more time together in ME2 (and he wasn’t always in the middle of Some Calibrations) and had some friends-to-lovers thing going on because he was the only one she could trust in the begging of ME2 journey. 10. As I said before - Garrus x) Because he was there from the start and always got her back.22. Citadel! It has this classic stanford torus look that really impress you the first time you got there.
