I just finished volume one of the series Count Crowley: Reluctant Monster Hunter and I love it so far!
It's a comic series written by David Dastmalchian, who yall might know better as Polka-Dot Man
It's about Jerri Bartman, who takes up hosting a Creature Feature after being fired from her TV journalist job, becoming the character Count Crowley, but it turns out that the job also comes with the responsibility of fighting monsters. She's also fighting her own inner demons and trauma along the way
So far, I'm loving it! Jerri is a very compelling main character: she's a witty smart-ass with real struggles that are portrayed genuinely and we see her actively wanting to better herself, even going to AA and planning to stick with it at the end of volume one
I also love that her whole shtick she takes on as Captain Crowley is her roasting the movies and the audience, like "hey this shit sucks ass but you're a bitch ass loser that doesn't have anything better to do so here you go"
If you're a fan of Jessica Jones and old school Universal Monsters, I think you'll really like this
