Review: Jerusalem
Jerusalem: A Cookbook is spectacular. There are a ton of recipes I still hope to try - it’s unfortunate that I picked this cookbook during the most hectic two months of the school year and only cooked four recipes. I am a big fan of the lemony leek meatloaf I fashioned and the quinoa risotto with marinated feta. The garlic fried tomatoes were good, but not so different from tomato eggs - a weekly favorite since the first installment of this cookbook club. I was totally unimpressed by the butternut squash tahini spread/dip! It tasted like raw squash, so maybe I need to roast longer and amp up the spices?
Anyway, I still want to make the lamb stew, falafel, and a few others, so stay tuned. I am not done just yet, but I am moving on for now — I am out of town basically every two weeks this entire summer and in between those trips I have to squeeze in moving apartments. I am trying to keep my groceries to the basics and to get creative with those in June and July. Hopefully The Corner Kitchen will help do that! But, when things settle down in August, I think I’ll go for broke and make both the lamb stew and the falafel!

roasted cauliflower and hazelnut salad The combination of the pomegranate seeds, hazelnuts, seasoning, and the char on the cauliflower makes this the most exciting cauliflower dish we've cooked to date!
