jesper, melancholy?
Thanks for the prompt! 😊
"...yeah."
Kloof whuffles softly and nudges Jesper's hand.
"I know," the thief says, unusually quiet.
Whuff. Nudge.
"Yeah."
Whuff. Huff-whuffle-nudge.
"I know he didn't mean it."
Snuf-whuff-huffle. Moonlit shadows play across both of their faces.
Nudge. Nudge. Nudge.
"But he still isn't talking to me."
Snh-nudge-flphfff-nudge-hufflsnrrrrph.
Jesper finally cracks a smile.
"I guess so," he concedes, and pets the dog's head.
hi hi hi hi
So sorry I haven't been around 4 a while!!!
*hands you conch shell* payment
Prompt!!!!!
Jesper fell asleep on Steph's shoulder.... teasing (Lydia, Edvin) ensues about how Stephan hasn't made a move yet.
Btw Stephan doesn't wanna move and disturb Jespers sleep...
But PLOT TWIST the story is from Jespers pov because he didn't actually fall asleep... and he hears EVERYTHING
*appears out of nowhere, carefully takes conch shell* thanks for your patience. *oooh pretty shell 🐚*
"Give it back," Stefan whisper-whines.
"Come take it," Lydia whispers back, holding the bracelet just of of Stefan's reach. Jesper keeps his eyelids as low as he can, watching. "You don't even have to get up."
"I can't!"
Jesper feels Stef's shoulder twitch and he holds still, ready to- he's not sure what he's ready to do, should Stefan dislodge him by reaching for the bracelet- but all he feels is a soft rush of breath as the blond boy sighs.
"Not waking him, Lyd. C'mon."
"Then you don't get the bracelet."
"...he'll make me another one."
A loud huff from Lydia. Jesper hears a tinkle of metal hitting the earth. "You're so boring."
Stefan still doesn't move to pick up the bracelet.
Jesper resolves to make Stefan another bracelet anyway.
.*pops up from literally nowhere* Hi! I'm here!
Sorry, was busy with ur next payment *hands you carved-with-mini-ships-and-waves driftwood*
I would like. ANGST.
so.
can we have like, siren!stefan having a panic attack because, idk, one of his siren friends came up and was like, 'your not going to be able to save your friends if we so choose. we could rip it all away, especially that one,, the little theif-boy you seem to care about most. When you've realised that, come back and join us'.
so we have stefan just sitting on the beach in a full-blown panic attack, then Jesper finds him and just... calls him back, yanno? Calms him down, maybe sings him something, and stefan is just sitting there sobbing 'cause he keeps falling in love with jesper and that's dangerous.
And then he just gives up and lets himself cry himself out on jespers shoulder, until its just them and quietness and their just sitting there when Edvin finds them 'cause they've been missing for over an hour.
(ye, i know, its long, but please)
*takes driftwood and hugs it very ecstatically and very carefully* YAY DRIFTWOOD
ALSO YAY ASKS
AND VERY YAY ANGST
Stef doesn't have siren friends, but he does have five aunts: Heidrun, Helga, Hrefna, Hanne, and Havfrid. Sjøran, Stefan's mother, is the youngest of the siren sisters.
Those are the names he uses when talking about them, anyway. Their siren names are far more difficult to pronounce.
Anyway, the aunts have tried to trap and kill and eat Jesper on more than one occasion. They don't like him and don't understand why their most seductive songs don't seem to affect him in the slightest, and they don't think Stefan is safe with him.
They let Stefan know this in no uncertain terms.
This makes Stefan really sad.
Jesper tries to joke about it, but he's scared too, and it's a while before he can get Stefan to stop crying, and it's even longer before the swirling storm clouds overhead go from furious grey to wispy white.
Rain has thoroughly soaked them both before Stefan is able to speak again.
"Of course I'm not leaving," Jesper scoffs in reply. "I'm not afraid of them. If you had a hundred aunts I wouldn't leave."
Stefan swipes his wrist across his eyes with a sniffly little laugh. "How about Edvin?"
"Huh?"
"If Edvin came, would you leave? Because I see him coming this way, and he's probably going to yell at both of us for disappearing."
Jesper's eyes widen. "Okay, now I'm afraid."
*sails in again* *pays you for your last one*
your service has been noticed. appreciated. and fangirled over.
*pulls out paper, crosses one off*

*looks at the lovely piece of driftwood, nods, and sticks it in my bag*
I'm glad you're appreciative; that's my favorite kind of audience. Very happy you're enjoying, and thank you so much. Means a lot to me. It really, really does.
*examines your paper* nice choice of ink, by the way, love the color. Can't read your handwriting either... guess I'll have to wait and see about your next request. I'm looking forward already.
Anyway...

Dell blinks. "You... sorry, what?"
"You had to be there," Jesper explains, cramming another piece of cherry pastry into his mouth. "'Mem'er, In'v'r? Wh'n we hadt' eschlph l'd'r oph'sk't-r'pn c'lt-"
"Please just swallow. And then tell me you didn't say something about a cult."
Ingvar helps himself to a piece of pastry, nodding. "Oh, yeah, we did that. The cult thing, I mean, with the Scorpions. Kind of funny, actually, and we got to meet a Ranger- the Araluen ones, you know?-and Hal invented a-"
With a herculean effort, Jesper manages to swallow his mouthful of sweet dough. "And remember Bloodyhand? The fat corsair with the shiny clothes who almost skewered Hal before Lydia- Dell, if you aren't going to eat that, can I have it?"
"Help yourself," Dell mutters, somewhat feebly.
Whoops.
I forgot about June of Jesper... we should do that.
Sorry if this has already been answered, but how did Ansgar and Jesper meet?
Not sure if it's been answered; in any case, I don't remember having anything for this...
...so let's make it up now.
Ansgar helped fix Stefan's bracelet that Jesper had broken by mistake.
(Stef didn't even realize Jes had nicked it, and Jes just wanted to play with it for a while before giving it back, and then it broke.)
Ansgar refused to take payment, saying he'd teach Jesper how to fix things on his own if Jesper would come by a few times a week and be an apprentice of sorts.
Curious about all the shiny things Ansgar had lying around and thinking it'd be a fun and useful skill to learn, Jesper agreed, thinking the whole setup would last a week or two before Ansgar got tired of him.
When that didn't happen, the poor boy got really confused and starting thinking he was on a time bomb. Why did this man take such an interest in him, and mentor him, and praise him, and even feed him, and- and trust that Jesper, a confirmed thief, wouldn't steal any of the tools or stones or jewelry?
The Sharing Table™️ was a big step in helping Jes overcome his trust issues.
hey ik the brotherband fandom came up with better last names for everyone but i forgor what they were. can you tell me
It would be my pleasure! I love these questions. Brotherbanders, please feel free to chime in, especially taking credit where credit is due because I may or may not have forgotten who coined which name:
Hal Wavechaser ( @mostlyonthefloor), who found a ship by 'following the waves in its wake'
Stig Ironskin, who's seemingly impervious to strikes and who finally managed to get his temper under control
Ingvar Starbreaker, who broke a sword forged from a fallen star
Edvin Hopebringer, who- well, I'm not exactly sure; legends abound with this one
Jesper Stormrunner ( @twofoursixohjuan this one is yours), who ran through a cornfield- oops, I mean a storm- to deliver a warning
Stefan Hafsærling (this one is mine [ @reine-du-sourire] ), who Sang five enemy ships into smashing themselves against the rocks
Ulf, Wulf, and Lydia I don't know.
