i recently saw a post about jesse x langdon and i think it flicked a switch in my brain. (warning im taking major creative liberties with this)

langdon who is working through the process of his messy divorce and jesse who has been divorced for at least half a decade now (amicably ofc, he’s still best friends with his ex-husband) and has been hooking up with people, but wants something more

i feel like it would maybe start off as a hook up. maybe one night after a busy night with the rest of the pitt cast at a bar, Jesse notices Langdon staying later and looking, frankly (no pun intended), really down and depressed. Jesse offers to drive him home and sticks around to make sure he’s ok/ cheer him up a bit, and ends up staying the night at langdons place. turns out Abby moved out and has the kids for the week so he sticks around a little longer. one thing turns to another and they end up blowing off some steam with each other. neither acknowledges it for a while, mostly because langdon is freaking out over his new sexuality crisis, but eventually they have to. Jesse comes over again and they talk, everything goes well, and soon they have a routine where Jesse will come over after work, make dinner, and they fuck. idk if either of them would see it as a long term thing, but i think they could be really fun. (maybe more in a constant teasing sort of way rather than mushy sweet)

anyway, shout out to the three langdon/jesse fics on ao3 that don’t involve another character, they both inspired this

I just know that Jesse is the best with Frank's kids. Like, he totally goes all camp councilor on them and makes activities for them to do whenever they are visiting. He's busting out the construction paper, the crappy elmers glue, pipe cleaners, rainbow looms, and taking them on fun outings to the zoo or to museums. Jesse has about 5 different bracelets from the two kids and one from Frank, who, despite not claiming to have any artistic talent, tries his absolute hardest at all of the crafts.

And Frank finds Jesse being so good with his kids so attractive (even if doesn't realize that's what those feelings are at first). He was so afraid of being seen as a bad partner and a bad father because of his past actions, that seeing Jesse support him and interact with his kids as if they were his own makes him head over heels.

Also Frank definitely got left with the dog in the divorce and so they pretty much act like it's their third child.

something something something about Jesse being the only one to reach out to Langdon while he was gone, and helping him through his divorce by taking him out to concerts and movies to rebuild langdon's social life, all disguised as "helping him gain some good taste"

season 3 jessdon where frank has hit hit absolute rock bottom and everyone is noticing. rumors have spread, questions have been muttered behind his back, and he’s pretty sure that there is a bet going on about some part of his fucked up life.

One day, Jesse overhears two of the med students that he’s accompanying, talking in hushed tones as they finish charting. they keep on whispering about how disheveled dr. langdon looks, and how he’s been kicked out of the hospital before. And while Jesse may not know the specifics of the incident, he knows that burnout is real and that he’s experienced that level of exhaustion before. especially during his own divorce.

he’s quick to shut the rumors down, reminding the kids they're in front of a patient or cutting into the conversation with vitals. Langdon was making an effort to be better after all, and that shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Now putting down those conversations is one thing; work place professionalism, right? But lately Langdon has been everywhere, to the point that Jesse finds it a bit unnerving. Somehow he always is on the same cases as the resident, or running into him in the halls, or talking to Dana at the central station while he's doing his charting. All things to say, Frank has become eerily present in Jessie's work life.

Which, of course, ends with Jesse unknowingly wandering into the break room while Frank sits at the table, his head in his hands.

It takes a moment to realize that he's not alone, a fresh cup of shitty coffee being the only thing taking up his mind, but once he does, something in the air changes.

"Hey man, you ok?" Jesse asks cautiously, his arm still halfway up to the cabinet to grab his mug.

Frank, apparently so in his head, jumps at the noise, before dragging his hands over his eyes and giving a less-than half-hearted chuckle. "Yeah, yeah. Just taking a breather. That last patient took me out more than expected."

Jesse hums in return, leaning back against the counter and bringing the now full mug to his lips. The last case was a 6 year old girl they both helped with. She had swallowed something and had choke, it was a close call, but they had been able to save her. Suspected neglect was at play, and so eventually Langdon made the call to contact Kiara.

Child cases always took a harder toll on the McKay, no doubt it was the same thing for Langdon.

"Hey, would you want to come see a show with me after drinks in the park tonight?" Jesse asks before he can stop himself, trying to play the request as smoothly as possible. "There's a bar I like to hit up not too far from here, and they usually have some good local bands playing. Nothing crazy."

Frank looks up from the hole he was burning into the table with wide eyes, "Uh, shit, yeah, sure. Sounds like fun."

Jesse nods, turning away from Frank's stare to dump out the now luke-warm coffee down the sink. "Cool, sounds good. I'll see you later then." he smiles, a smirk playing on his lips.

As he leaves the room he can still feel Frank's eyes on him. Something between pride and nervousness sits on his shoulders as he walks down the halls to check on his patients, because did he really just ask his coworker on a date?

anyways thats how the two end up getting wayyy too drunk and eventually making out after stumbling their way back to Frank's place.
