Routine || Minnie & Jesse
Sneaking out of her flat was becoming part of her daily routine. Minnie would make sure that Gus was asleep across the hall, lock her door, and quietly run down the stairs. She wished she could take the elevator, but that stupid voice announcing that she had reached the penthouse floor would most likely give away her plans. When she got to the lobby, the blonde put on her coat and hat, and graciously made her way through the front doors, managing to walk past the bodyguard her father had hired to keep an eye on her.
Ever since that gala she was forced to attend, the blonde’s nights had been the same, and as she made her way to another tall building, not far from her own, an excited smile took shape on her lips. Minnie spoke to the doorman, who proceeded to warn Jesse about her arrival, before allowing her to get the lift to the other’s penthouse. She couldn’t help but flinch lightly as a voice announced that the doors were opening, having to take a second to remember that she was not in her building anymore, before stepping in, and pressing the correct button, eagerly chewing on her bottom lip as her green eyes focused on the digital numbers going up on the little screen by the door. After a while, the lift came to a stop as the voice announced her arrival, doors sliding open to reveal Jesse’s home.

This is a recording of DJ Jesse Brooks spinning live at Sunny Side Up, a daytime “underground” party organized by Fresh Produce LA, on Saturday May 13, 1995, at the Venice Beach Pavilion, Venice, California.
The sun is shining, the palm trees are swaying, the salty ocean breeze washes over your body, and the thumping beat of HOUSE MUSIC fills the air! It's 3:40 pm, Saturday afternoon, May 13, 1995. The location is the old Venice Beach Pavilion, a graffiti-covered, concrete picnic area in the middle of the Venice boardwalk, normally a hangout for skaters and taggers. Today, tourists stop to gawk at these strangely-dressed kids dancing strangely to this strange, loud music. But to those in-the-know, this is like a dream come true! Raving in broad daylight, on the beach, with thousands of people around?!? Heck Yeah! Sunny Side Up was organized by Fresh Produce, an LA promotion crew that produced intimate parties with a real family feel. The lineup for the day included Alison, John Kelly, Eric Davenport, Jesse Brooks and Thomas Michael. In this recording, Jesse Brooks is heard serving up a a perfect blend of funky breakbeat, acid, tribal and deep house. The mix of the board feed and audience mic is perfect. The stereo signal is loud but the mic is present just enough to give you a realistic sensation of being there. So, don your sunglasses, slather on some SPF 30, hit PLAY and travel back to Sunny Side Up!
