Visiting Hour || Jesse and Georgina
They had something against her. Georgina couldn’t think of any other reason why the nurses had not allowed visitors to see her yet they had. “I would not get overexcited and exert myself too much. Bloody biddys are trying to keep me isolated.” At first, Georgina thought that is was something that she had done. It didn’t make sense as to why no one in town would come and visit her. She didn’t want to believe she was that unloved. Ris had reassured her that she wasn’t, but a few more days passed without anyone coming to see her. It was beginning to drive her mad. Her chat with her eldest brother had been extremely enlightening. Georgina was not allowed visitors. How could they do that to her. Was her mental health not part of her treatment plan? They had thrown all sorts of medical terminology at her which made her aching head throb. All she wanted was someone there to talk to. Dr. Abernathy was nice as were some of the nurses, but she longed for her friends and her savior. It still bothered her that she couldn’t remember what happened. The time alone had caused Georgina to think about how she had gotten here in the first place. She recalled going to the beach and waking up in the hospital. That was all. She didn’t think that she had gotten drunk. The sun was shining on the water and Georgina usually didn’t drink until almost dark. When she did drink, she doubted that she would go to the beach. All she knew was that she went to the beach and woke up with a throbbing pain, stitches in her head, and no recollection of how it happened. She shook her head. It did no good to dwell on such things when the answers eluded her. She would find her answers once she was able to rejoin the rest of the world. To do that she would have to get the nurses to agree to let people see her. She did look a mess, but she doubted Jesse would care. He was her brother and they adored each other.
Georgina hit the button to call the nurses. She would have walked out of the room to the nurses’ station, but they had threatened to restrain her if she left her room again. She had not tried to escape, but the word was that Georgina was suffering from short term memory loss. Of course, that idea was ridiculous but it is always the most absurd of gossip that manages to proliferate. One of the many nurses who tended the area came in. The women was slightly more elderly than some of the others. Georgina decided to play the poor baby card. Hopefully, this woman would have children and sympathies with Georgina. When the nurse asked her what was wrong, Georgina began to cry. “I… I… I must be the worst person in the world! Not even my brothers want to come see me. I’m so alone here! I just want someone to be here. I don’t understand why Jesse isn’t here. He said he would be here.” She buried her face in her hands and sobbed. The nurse jumped in alarm and told her that she would check the waiting room. Georgina gave her a teary smile and nodded. She just hoped Jesse was where he said he was or she would be comforted by this woman all day.
