A very... provoking thought.

This is yet another "Tomics Resurrection" where I take an old comic (below) and repackage it like an unwanted Christmas gift.  I actually scrapped the old fourth panel in the new version.   Even though I enjoy John and Peter's exchanges, I felt like it didn't really add to the main joke, so I removed it.  I am not hindered by such mortal weaknesses as sentimentality, and it was in no way devastating for me to amputate my precious creation.  What do you think?

Free Comic Review: The World’s Greatest Hero, Jesus Christ!

I got a free comic from Costumers for Christ when @lechevaliermalfet​ and @shbumi​ went to the Springfield Comic Expo in 2019. Full disclosure: 90% of the wording of this review is just lifted from my post on that event on my other blog. I had meant to cross-post it here and never did, so I’m just fixing that now.

The story itself is just the Jesus story, repackaged in comic form and running between 20-30 pages..The art isn’t bad, either - it sort of reminds me of the Bible story comics in Boys’ Life magazine back in the day. 

The actual superheroes are only on a handful of pages aside from the cover - the intro and outro pages, essentially. But I imagine that Marvel and DC would still take some issues with their characters being presented this way. Probably both why the comics are 1) free and 2) printed in China.

Now, I have no problem with people wanting to talk about their faith, if they aren’t pushy. I spoke with these guys last year and they’re a polite, enthusiastic, nerdy bunch. At no time did I see them pressure anyone to take a comic, bookmark, or other item, or to stop and talk. People who declined were able to just keep going their merry way.

I am just noting they may potentially run into some trouble with some big companies and copyright lawsuits one day.

Opinion: Thoughts on DC Making Jesus Christ A Comic Character

DC Comics made a grand decision to make a comic story (or probably a line of comic books) about Jesus Christ. And although the decision has been met with heavy criticism, marches, rallies, and more, here are my own thoughts on the issue.

I think it is wrong for DC to do that because I am coming from a place of personal bias, being a Christian, but I also don’t think we have the right to judge…
