JOKE-OGRAPHY:

Going by CatholicAnswers.com, the Sadducees were a very strict sect of Judaism in Jesus’s day.  They believed only in the written Law of Moses, and rejected traditions and revelations that came later, believing that they were pagan perversions of the real faith.  Some of the beliefs they rejected were the idea of heaven and hell, the resurrection of the dead, and the existence of angels and spirits.

However, I've seen one or two people argue that the Sadducees might have believed in angels, just not in the same way the Pharisees did.  I’m not sure exactly what that means, but here’s a cartoon exposing what they REALLY BELIEVE.

Truly, John was far beyond us in faith.

JOKE-OGRAPHY: John's quote ("I'm not worthy to carry [His] sandals") comes from the Gospel. As an adult baptizing people in the Jordan River, John is respected. People come to him for religious guidance, but he points them to Jesus. He tells them that he's so far beneath Jesus that he's not even worthy to carry Jesus's sandals. He must've had a lot of confidence in his cousin... or maybe he just wanted some peace and quiet.

A very... provoking thought.

This is yet another "Tomics Resurrection" where I take an old comic (below) and repackage it like an unwanted Christmas gift.  I actually scrapped the old fourth panel in the new version.   Even though I enjoy John and Peter's exchanges, I felt like it didn't really add to the main joke, so I removed it.  I am not hindered by such mortal weaknesses as sentimentality, and it was in no way devastating for me to amputate my precious creation.  What do you think?

JOKE-OGRAPHY: 1. "Advent" is the season leading up to Christmas. It starts on December 1st and goes right up to Christmas Eve. The younger priest calls it "Add-vent" because the home-maintenance guy wants to "add vents" to the rectory during December to improve their heating. 2. The short Italian guy is a home-maintenance professional (not simply a plumber) named Murray O. Do not confuse him with any other entirely legally distinct character(s).
