Jevin's more than a bit embarrassed by the fact he gets more... liquid-y? Slimy? Less solid, when he's relaxed, so to speak. Thankfully, Xisuma has no problem being half-covered in slime while he sleeps. I mean, he has to wear the mask anyway, man physically can't breathe overworld air, after all.
Though they do have to spend a couple of minutes getting Jevin out from the cracks of Xisuma’s armor
