I changed Jack’s last name to Finch and I’m considering including it in the title:

So Jack Believes in Ghosts is a queer romance/ensemble comedy about ghost hunters.

Blurb:

Jack Suskin is a paranormal researcher on the YouTube show "The Ghost Checkers", currently threatened with cancellation by their production company if their views don’t increase. To save their show, they enlist the help of a popular (and very cute) YouTube psychic, Cecil Cooper, who joins them on a tour of house calls. The only problem? Jack hates psychics. When Cecil relays the prophecy that Jack must accept things as they are or lose something dear, Jack must either fight against his very nature, or risk losing everything he loves. With the support of his team, Jack navigates queer love and tough loss, and fights a lot of ghosts along the way.

These are the babies:

Jack is a skeptical ghost hunter, and one of the lead investigators for the Ghost Checkers. (Named for their inability to banish entities, only check for them.)

Lydia is the co-lead and has enough charisma to make up for Jack’s awkwardness.

Cecil is a little Georgian ray of sunshine, and has been a psychic medium in the public eye since he was little.

Adeel is their 1 month intern they’ve had for 17 months and counting. Sweet, naive, good-natured, and a great cameraman.

Ferris is the tech master, and knows their way around any kind of meter or reader. They are mischievous, sarcastic, and my favorite.

Austin is their producer and director, and leads behind the scenes. He keeps the group together and is their dad away from home (even though they’re all the same age).

I have just finished my first draft and if anyone would like to be a beta reader, let me know! Also the tag is “wip jbig”!

Which OC is most likely to…

3. Turn everything into a competition?

Ferris races for the passenger seat every time. I think Adeel and Lydia would compete with each other for dumb random things like eating the most wasabi in one bite (Adeel wins) or naming all the Spice Girls (Lydia wins).

7. Have a good relationship with their family?

Jack is super close with his aunt, his dad’s sister. He calls her for anything, advice, venting, just saying hi. She got him into the paranormal!

13. Not celebrate their birthday?

Austin. He doesn’t want a big fuss made about himself. When Lydia realized she’d been on the team for over a year and they still hadn’t celebrated Austin’s birthday, she went berserk and begged him to tell her the day. He refused so she picked a day. It is now May 24th.

Ferris sings these dumb jingles that narrate what everyone else is doing and everyone hates it

12. Start an argument?

Answered, Ferris. But Jack is so set in his ways/beliefs that he’ll probably carry on an argument about ghosts because he’s SURE he’s right.

27. Get asked for advice?

Cecil for sure. It’s kind of his whole thing as a YouTube psychic medium. He offers a lot of unsolicited advice too. He can’t control when someone’s loved one gives him a message for them.

30. Sing in the shower?

Answered, Lydia and Adeel. But you KNOW Ferris jams out to some Alanis Morissette.
