[ Image description: Pencil-brush Procreate study of the face of Andrew Buchan as Major Mikulas Vir in Prime’s “Carnival Row”. He is looking towards the viewer, on his right, with his head cocked towards his left. End ID. ]
Major Vir has noticed you noticing him crack his neck.
(I got to do a study today.)
[ Image description: ink and very basic wash of a two panel illustration of Lucia, the orphan of Whiterun in the video game “Skyrim” and Paw, the black and white tabby Khajiit OC of @damejudyhench . It is basically a spoof of the meme of a cheetah cub looking up at her mom in one panel, and the full-on getting licked in the face in the next: that is exactly what happens to Lucia. End ID. ]

[ Image description: a spoof of the 1977 poster for Star Wars, called “Pearl Wars”. Adjutant Akande looms in the background scene over Pearl Jenkins and Vicar Max (dressed as Archibald Excelsior with the jacket open to reveal his bare chest). He’s in the Princess Leia pose and has his shotgun in lieu of her blaster. Pearl is hoisting the P.E.T. over her head; Parvati and SAM linger in the background. The Hope is rising in the sky over Akande’s shoulder over a planet: Terra 2. The text of the poster says it’s from “Odeon Pictures” and “Twenty-Fourth Century Sprat”, starring Ruth Bellamy, Spencer Woolrich, Carmen Imagawa, and “back from retirement”, Burbage-2000. Directed by Maverick Johnston, Produced by Sanjar Nandi, Music by Joost N Klock, which was the best I could do at the time for “Justin Bell”, sorry. The whole thing is rendered in fairly terrible brushy paint. End ID. ]
Happy new year to @damejudyhench with some art I’ve been teasing her with for, what, the entire last year or so?
[ Image description: six wanted posters in the style of “The Outer Worlds” for original player-characters: Xiomara Castillo (@galaxycunt), Rowan Dane (@the-laridian), Will Hawthorne (@the-lastcall), Aethelflaed Fiori (mine), Pearl Jenkins (@damejudyhench), and Aayla Ven (@galaxymermaid214). Somewhere, in the Worldstree, someone has a collection of all six (and that would now be you).
Thanks to everyone for commissioning me -- this was a lot of fun, and I love all your characters (I do think that the artist is low-key obsessed with each and every one of them)!
Provided that I make it through the upcoming conference I’m going to with The Next Generation and feel like I can commit, I think I might do more of these. I’ll post about it, of course, if that’s the case, and hopefully my artist can get obsessive about more of your OCs. : )
[ Image description: ink and color illustration of Vicar Max from the video game “The Outer Worlds” sitting at his desk in the OSI church in Edgewater. Behind him is an empty bookcase. There are stained glass windows on his right hand side, which are casting beams of light over him. His hands are clasped and he is looking over and down at the viewer. The design of the windows contains vertical striping that are a visual representation of the Doppler Effect, along with circles of glass that are in a paler color. The whole composition is based on the Fibonacci spiral. End ID. ]
I needed something wholesome to do yesterday besides rage. So I colored in my meta-referential drawing of Max. He is a handsome man, though (to me, ymmv, and I know that for a lot of people it does) much more appealing after the successful conclusion of his companion quest.
[ Image description: Play on Mucha's classic Art Nouveau work, "Terre" from his Elements series. It features Parvati Holcomb, sitting in profile with an oversized wrench over her shoulder. A stylized crescent frames her, showing the Spacer's Choice Moon Man face flanked by a series of Spacer's Choice green and gold ship logos on either side in decreasing size. A sprig of Emerald Vale ivy extends from behind her in an arc over her head. In the background behind her there is a stylized, layered landscape: the Vale volcano and a gear (in place of the sun that Mucha had put in his piece), the silhouetted skyline of Edgewater, and a tree and rocky escarpment. Below and in the background is a stream with tall rocks on either side, and there are two stylized puffballs on either side of the picture. The entire image is enclosed in an Art Nouveau frame featuring stained glass windows above and the word “TERRE” in a stylized frame, backed by images of wheat and some laurel-like greenery. End ID. ]
Yes, Max, that is French.
I went back to Twitter to find out when I’d actually started (and stopped) this work, thinking it had been a year ago. Nope: more than that. I had had grand hopes of doing a series of five images at the time, but that’s likely not going to happen if it takes me over a year to finish just one of them.
The stained glass design is actually by Bobby Hernandez, from his amazing designs for windows in Byzantium: https://bobbyhernandez.artstation.com/projects/zAGRRQ -- although I did mod it by dropping the Unreliable in there.
