suji was just going to grab some food when a loud beep came from the alarm systems. “ shit, ” her eyes were flung wide open, staring at the intercoms where the blaring was originating. fuck, those were their system alarms. immediately, she patches herself in with jaehyung, trying to connect with him. suji begins sprinting away from the leisure area of the spacecraft, simultaneously pulling up her holoscreen from her bracelet with a swipe. her eyes zones in on the flashing warning signs of their systems. “ jay! jaehyung, you there? ross just went out! ” she has a million thoughts going through her head. how and when did it break? she starts calculating the numbers in her head: by volume, mass of oxygen, toxicity levels of carbon dioxide, and 23 people inhaling the average 7 liters of air per minute.
out of breath by the time she reaches the controls room, suji pounds her hand on the detector to open the door. ( i ought to make a portable holo-hoverboard, suji thinks and files that away. ) the only flaw on this whole magnificent spacecraft was that it was too goddamn huge. luckily, its large volume would also be their savior. heading straight for the controls, she slams her palm on the annoying alarm to dismiss it for another hour. she’s not a total fool to shut it off. that’s like ripping out your smoke alarm after one incident.
her fingers reaches for the crew intercoms, all lovely tongues and political manners flew out the window in a time of seriousness. “ everyone, ross– i mean, the visros just went down. there’s no need for panic now–it’s the fucking CO2 to oxygen filter, idiot. no, nobody’s dying yet— ” her breath caught in her throat as she spotted jaehyung coming in, “ at least not for a long while. this boat is huge–listen, we’ll fix it. i promise. ”
sighing, she turns off her comm despite the complaints and indignant shouts. rotating her body to face him, it must be surprising for jaehyung to see suji wear an expression she rarely had on. her eyes were drooped downward, lips lilted in shame. “ this is my fault. ”
