The thing is, everyone has known about Taehyung’s crush on Namjoon. Everyone except Namjoon, that was. Strangers often would look at them and think that they were already together. Looking at their social media accounts, anyone could misinterpret that they were already together. However, that wasn’t the case. Until now, apparently. Hoseok can not keep the smile off his face. He is happy for his friends, happy that they finally said what everyone else already knew.
The sound of his messaging app on his phone pulls his attention from the chaos that is his friends on Twitter, each one trying to shout over the other about who was more right. Jimin. He’s sweet, and funny; just like Namjoon said he would be. Hoseok’s still hesitant about actually meeting up, and when he said that he would like to get coffee sometime but he wasn’t sure when, Jimin’s easy response of “okay! i don’t usually have anything on wednesday or thursday evening,” made butterflies form in his stomach. Neither one of them had mentioned it since.
Instead, they resumed chatting about anything else. It makes the pressure go away and Hoseok enjoys his conversation with Jimin again. They have tentative plans to meet up without any pressure to actually do so. That is something Hoseok can deal with.
Even if as the more they talk, he finds himself wondering more and more what this Jimin looks like. So, instead of asking Jimin, he sends a quick text to Namjoon asking, though he doesn’t expect Namjoon to reply considering the last Hoseok knew, Jungkook was abandoning his and Taehyung’s apartment to give the new couple space.
It’s hours later that Namjoon sends Hoseok a photo - he’s not disappointed, per say, but something about the photo just doesn’t feel like the Jimin he’s been talking to for the past several hours about nothing and everything. Hoseok just guesses it’ll be something that clicks together once he meets Jimin in person.

Hoseok sighs as he slowly stirs his coffee in front of him. Namjoon is talking about his friend - Jimin. Jimin is apparently someone that Namjoon thinks that he would get along well with. He is sweet and funny, confident without being too cocky unless he is just playing. He likes singing and dancing and volunteers at an animal shelter. He sounds great, honestly, and apparently he agreed to meet up with Hoseok for a date already. Which is why Namjoon says, “Just take the number, Hoseok. What’s the worst that could happen?”
“I could end up not liking him and wasting everyone’s time,” Hoseok answers before he picks up his cup of coffee and takes a drink out of it, careful not to poke himself in the eye with the spoon. “I really don’t know.”
“Seokkie, you haven’t dated since you and Jinyoung broke up-” Hoseok winces and Namjoon places a hand on Hoseok’s forearm with a gentle squeeze. Jinyoung and Hoseok had dated for two years, and Hoseok had loved him. Jinyoung had loved Hoseok. However, they both realized that they were only together because it was familiar, comfortable. Neither one of them really felt like they were in love with one another, and they parted amicably. Hoseok had heard that Jinyoung started dating someone a few weeks ago, and he’s happy for Jinyoung. Really, he is. He just isn’t sure he wants to bother with the mess that is dating someone new right now. “It’s been months. Just ... Go. Go out for coffee or to eat. Talk with him. If nothing else, you can make a new friend.”
“Fine. Fine, okay. Just ... don’t get mad at me if nothing happens. Okay?” Namjoon smiles brightly at Hoseok’s agreement, and Hoseok cannot help but smile as well. He reaches over to steal a piece of Namjoon’s cookie off his plate as they sit there in Seokjin’s bakery. “What’s his number?”
