((Speaking of German and English being similar, there's a joke in my family (since my mother grew up there)- German is easy to learn. Hand is Hand, Finger is Finger, Foot is Fuß, and Speed Limit is Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung.))

Yup. Though the beautiful thing about German is that one can usually figure out the insanely long words out from its roots. Eg: When the English named their tanks, they called them tanks because of a misinformation campaign to fool the Germans. The Germans, meanwhile, looked at the armored fighting vehicles and called them panzerkampfwagens: armored fighting vehicles.

((Sorry for getting preachy on you yesterday. I shouldn't have done that, and I didn't even 100% agree with what I said (the part about it not being a slur because white people aren't oppressed, not the part about dictionaries). I have no clue what I was thinking getting that wordy about an opinion that I only 1/3-agreed with, but I did a lot of other stupid things yesterday, so I think something weird was going on.))

((I think I'm leaning towards "not a slur," though. The people who say it's a slur have no source, and I've never, ever seen it in that context, and the people who say it's not have Urban Dictionary backing them up (it's not much, but it's something, which is more than the "slur!!!" people have).))

Considering the anon, it's teeeeeeeeechnically not a slur, though it's not exactly a nice thing to call someone, either.
