NSCAD printmaking area’s 2016 summer Visiting Artist Joscelyn Gardner in residence for 5 weeks to work with technician and Master Printer Jill Graham on a large stone lithograph.
Recent images of Tamarind master printer Jill Graham printing Pletikosa (Hagar in the Wilderness) with her ingenious registration technique using a table built from plywood blocks for placement of the printing paper. This way, the length of the stone is extended allowing for a more accurate registration.
Jill and I continue our collaboration from afar with the Pletikosa key stone being printed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I made the key image last June during my residency at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University.

My collaboration with Jill continues from afar with color information carried out in Krakow, Poland while the key stone is being etched and proofed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Jill recently processed the drawing I draw on stone last June during my residency at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University and applied the first and the second etch. In a few days, we will proceed with color plates and split-roll color information, which I will draw in Krakow.
New color proofs for the Pletikosa lithograph in progress, which Jill printed recently. The project was started at NSCAD print studios during the summer months of 2015.
Anatomy of a print: building first plate color image from afar, in Krakow, Poland, for Test Stone with a Rock III study (Distant View after H. Seghers). Soon, the mylar sheet will be shipped to NSCAD and Tamarind master printer Jill Graham will turn it into a photo-lithographic plate. The final image will consist of stone lithograph with two additional color plates and will be printed on Kozo Okawara paper, stone size 30 x 45″ | 76 x 114 cm
