Stamps Lecturer Annica Cuppetelli’s work is featured in ReFashion, an exhibition questioning expectations for “fashion or wearability”.
Cuppetilli’s works, Body Vessels and Body Vessels 2 explores how fashion design is made to constrict and ultimately transform the female figure.
Using techniques and materials of garment making and fashion design, Cuppetelli applies these in garment-like forms, while having the pieces exist as sculptures and spaces. myumi.ch/L3AnB

University of Michigan Penny Stamps School of Art & Design alum Felice Mueller (BFA 2012) represented the United States in the Women’s Pair Rowing event at the 2016 Rio Olympics last week, finishing just short of a bronze metal in forth place. Mueller has won numerous national and international competitions with partner Grace Luczak, coming in first in Women’s Pair at the 2016 World Rowing Cup II and the 2016 National Selection Regatta 1.
Between career, family life, and the incredible creative projects Stamps alums always seem to have in the hopper, it can be hard to find time to reflect on all the forces that came together to get us where we are today.

Today I said goodbye to some of my friends at Senenryo. I felt both sadness and happiness because I was leaving them, but not forever. They taught me so much about how I should live my own life and experience joy in the smallest things. Their disabilities do not pull them down in any way, as what I would have thought before meeting them. I only see them living lives differently than ours in that they think more creatively and are more positive about the world than the average person. I only wish more people can see them and interact with them! I think people can be afraid by what they see on the flesh, thus preventing them from discovering everything that is good in the inside. -Emily
There's nothing like hands-on experience. During the winter 2016 term, Stamps students collaborated with clients like the American Water Works Association and Zingerman's Candy Manufactory to acquire experience beyond the classroom. Read more...

Today we went to Kohara Elementary School and got to work with the sixth grade children on making clay masks on a certain theme. My partner, Asuka, was the sweetest and was really a great kid to work with. She was very creative and was able to come up with a lot of great ideas. She turned out to be one of us! She likes Spongebob so much that we decided to put Spongebob characters on the mask too. Our theme was bonding/ties/relationships. To represent our theme, we put a lot of happy faces and the Patrick and Plankton being friends on each cheek of the mask. After our workshop time, we had lunch together and Asuka gave me a colorful bookmark that she has made. I gave a a cute keychain. After lunch we went outside to the grounds and played tag. Time went by really fast, and it was hard to say goodbye to Asuka when it was our time to go. I am really lucky to be parters with her and I am so excited on how the mask will turn out after it is fired.
