turquoise: weirdest dream you’ve ever had?I haven’t been able to truly remember a dream in yea rs but I do remember once I was a vampire being chased by these 12 yr olds in a car at like 4am and when I got home dad made me take this huge neon orange spider with tiger print up to the top of this hill to be released back into its natural habitat but, being a vampire, I had to do it before the sun rose or I would be turned into dust? So I ran up the hill, released the spider and jumped form the top to quicken my descent but the sun rose and before I completely died I remember seeing my dad laughing at me.In a way I’m kind of glad I don’t remember my dreams anymore bc ^^^ ???
seafoam: describe your ideal summer vacation.spending it with friends (bc I normally hole myself away in my room rip) and just, doing outdoor stuff like hiking and rowing and seeing lots of beautiful landscapes!!

it for sure doesn't hurt to try if you have the chance! Possibilities remain possibilities if you don't try something (is what ive been told). I'm in the same boat debating grad school after next year, but it definitely helps if you're passionate enough about what you want to study i think? Even if you find you don't need it later, then at least you enjoyed that knowledge. Like you said, you're still young! There's plenty of time to figure things out! Good luck! :)
“Even if you find you don’t need it later, then at least you enjoyed that knowledge.” That sounds a lot like what I was saying, how my professor is encouraging me to go even though there’s always that chance that I might not ever get to do something in that field. The work involved with linguistics is analytic and requires high attention to detail. There’s a lot of research done, which can even fall under field or lab research depending on the program and sub-field and such.
I guess the big take away (other than personal satisfaction) is that if I were to go into linguistics for my master’s, I wouldn’t just be developing the same skills I already have been. It would give me some more variety to add onto my repertoire.
I do think the biggest drawback for me is the financial part. I’ve already struggled to be able to even stay in school this long. Hell, the reason I’m currently still enrolled is because I took on a CA job (RA on most campuses) that gives me free housing. It’s definitely something where, like I said, I would need the assistantships or fellowships. I’m already scared of how much loan debt I’m gonna have to pay off just for my undergrad. If I would have to pay for the majority of grad school with loans, it just wouldn’t be worth it. I’d have way more debt than I’d probably be able to comfortably pay off. So like you said, it doesn’t hurt to try. I just know that if I do end up applying, I have make sure I sweep these schools off their feet. Because if I’m not worthy enough for that financial assistance, then I’d be screwed. I have enough confidence that I’m a good enough student to be accepted into a program. It’s just that I don’t dare assume I’m good enough to automatically get the funding.

My first thought was “I should’ve specified females,” but then I stopped. And then I realized...if the joke amongst my friends is that my life is a Rooster Teeth au fanfic...who’s to say that there aren’t any genderbends? That’s a fanfic trope, right?
