slsheppard: I discovered Supernatural in 2009 when going through a particularly rough time in my life. Like most people I’ve spoken to, it resonated with something in me & it gave me huge comfort. I have been a ‘geek’ since the 90’s - when it meant I was just a nerd & mercilessly teased at school for years, so when I discovered the @creationent conventions I felt I might find some kindred spirits. And I did. Everyone was so welcoming & kind and that has never changed. I went to #vancon2012 through to #vancon2014 - That was going to be my last convention but I was having a drink with some friends and @thejimmichaels in the hotel lounge & a certain Mark Sheppard was waved over to join us. It was like time stopped when we started talking. We had both gone through divorces in the previous year & swapped numbers. Then he never called me. What a wanker I thought. However then I asked him to wish me happy birthday on Twitter & he said his ubiquitous ‘NO’ and we started talking. While he was in LA & I was living in London it turned into 6 hour Skype sessions and our life started. Trips were made. Plans were set in motion. I truly never thought this show could change my life like it did. When I started showing up on set etc I was so nervous. I have social anxiety & had never been in a situation like this. But the people involved in it from the actors, the camera crew, the catering crew, the art department, the make up & hair crew- everyone, and I mean, everyone treated me with respect, kindness & love. I know there were conversations had about Mark dating a fan, as well there should have been, but I think they knew we were the real deal. Everyone became amazing friends & are to this day because that what Supernatural is; a family. They are the best & I’m honoured to know them. Can’t believe it’s been 20 years since it started. Thank you to the show that gave me the husband, the daughter, the friends, the life I have today. I am forever grateful #supernatural #spnfamily #marksheppard #family #memories
