Here's the thing, protests have to be more than poetic words on screens; outraged bodies in streets; protests must=resistance!!! We must resists what this country holds so dear, which is the ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR. The truth of the matter is our democracy is more dictated by capitalism than any law of the land or the moral fortitude of our humanity. Capitalism is our great equalizer, more so than anything else! It's not about race or racism, class, gender or even sexual orientation; it's not about civil or even human rights; it's about economics - history has proven it. Slavery didn't end because all of a sudden people acknowledged the gross injustice & inhumanity in treating their fellow man as chattel. It ended because there were economic reasons that began to weigh heavier than the institution of slavery itself. The civil rights movement was no different, the South began to dismantle #JimCrowe not because #RosaParks refused to sit in the back of the bus, but because for 20 straight days following her arrest citizens chose to put their $ where their mouth was & the Montgomery bus boycott literally crippled the town & changed the tide of segregation across the country. In the same way the rich & powerful gun lobbyist propaganda eclipsed the shear visceral pain & grief of our Nation when 20 babies were gunned down a week before Christmas in Newtown Conn. The point is, #CHANGE in this country has more to do with "In God We Trust", than the faith & trust of our government to honor & protect, that which we hold most dear; the dignity & civil liberties that is each & every citizen's birthright morally, ethically & most important constitutionally. Our protest must hit this country where they recognize our value and that's in the wallet. We have the #power to effect #change! Let's start right #now! Please do not spend 1 dime today on #blackfriday & send the message loud & clear that #blacklivesmatter; that #injustice for one is injustice for all. Let us stand together united in this, that we will no longer settle for the gross abuse of power, but live by the creed of the land "one Nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all!" @unitedblackout #ferguson
