I have actually gotten Nerd Check'd by the lead designer of Magic: The Gathering about what "color" Peter Parker should be. It's a level of nerd humiliation that no one can really recover from.
(I don't think he should be Green at all. Mark Rosewater says it's because green is the color of animals and the natural world, and invokes the spider-totem stuff. But that stuff wasn't SUPPOSED to be true, that was Dan Slott retconning later! Green is also the color of letting things be and letting destiny take its path - and that's not very Peter at all!)
Like he addressed you personally? Hang in there????
Well, the totem stuff wasn't originated by Slott (we don't like him), it was his predecessor Stracyznski (we like him), and it's pretty fun in its context. But since it's introduced so late in the mythos and then fails to become integral outside of its initiating storyline, only fans of an extremely specific generation really engage with it as "the real, definitive lore". So you can defend your honor by telling Rosewater I called him old.
On a broader level I can fuck with going with green on the logic of "spider is animal". Like fuck dude it sure is. But then yeah if there's a hippie philosophy element that's shakier. Our man has never let anything take its path in his life. Idk someone is going to have to explain mtg colors to me.
