Ramble: Jinnora
Female dwarf druid, focused on shapeshifting. Her story is that she grew up poor in a dwarven city that isn’t named. Basically think of the intro story to Dragon Age: Origin. Only way to go up was to marry rich and she had no interest in that. So instead she ran away from home to the surface. Cue something happening and druids rescuing and bringing her in.
I originally wanted to write some stories about her learning her various animal forms, but there’s still a lot that needs to be worked out with her.
One of the dwarves on Inido’s ship recognized her due to some kind of encounter the pirates had with the druids. What the fuck even happened there? Maybe an emergency landing from some kind of storm? Or even running from the law, or some drow chasing after him? How has Inido’s journey been? I have the power to write all that, I just need to stop being fucking lazy. But back to Jinnora.
Why would she agree to go on the ship with the dwarf? She loved hanging out with the druids and being an animal. Some part of her wants to see the rest of the world, having been opened up to the fact that there’s more than what’s in the mountain.
Is she bitter at her family? Yeah, a little. She loves them and know that they were trying her best to provide the best life possible for her. It’s unfair that marriage to some noble was the only way to do so. Maybe she was even engaged at one point to a noble willing to raise her up in return for a son. The cliche is for her to hate him, but I feel like there needs to be more. The story is pretty shallow at this point.
Alternate idea: what if she was married, and even did give birth to a child? What if there was some other reason she ran away from home? Something that might tie back to the sailor dwarf on Inido’s ship and made her agree to help these people.
Coming back to these ideas later as I need to get ready for work.
