You love Jinx, truly. But sometimes there are habits that she does that pisses you off. Like: her lack of communication, taking food off your plate. But there is one habit in particular that makes you the most angry. Whenever she gets hooked on a new project, she ignores everything. Don’t get it wrong you love when she is passionate about something. But going to bed alone, making her a plate of food only for her to maybe eat it, sitting by her only to realize 10 minutes later that she will not talk to you, the list goes on and on.

So here you are, getting ready for bed while Jinx is still working on whatever she is working on. You’re used to this but it still hurts some nights. But there is something you don’t know.

You don’t sleep alone. Never in your entire relationship have you slept alone.

You might think you do but no Jinx always climbs onto your stomach 20 minutes later. She lays down on your chest while she looks at your sleeping face. Seeing how your brows furrow, how your forehead wrinkles, how you get this face whenever something happens in your dream, Jinx can name 100 more things you do when you’re asleep. Sometimes she falls asleep or sometimes she just stares at you for hours

When you wake up from your slumber Jinx is already gone and working on her project. You usually fell warm not alone like when you’re going to bed…it’s confusing.

BIRTHDAY MISHAPS

Vi is fucking sick of this.

"Come on, say 'ahh' "

Following Jinx's request, you opened your mouth, welcoming the spoonful of kiwis she was trying to feed you. It was like this every morning. But unlike every other mornings, Vi was stuck to watch the scene before her unfold

Mostly, she'd be out in the mornings, busying herself in the gym, leaving Caitlyn to tire herself out just staring at you and Jinx. But unfortunately for her, she twisted her ankle in a fight last night, leaving her to stay home and watch you dote on each other like lovers

"Right in front of my salad?"

Ignoring the girl's complaint, Jinx only gently fed you another spoonful, even giving you a big fat kiss on the cheek, leaving you giggling like an idiot. She was always the physically affectionate type, even to her friends. At least that's what you thought

"Will you two stop it?!....Let me enjoy my salad IN PEACE"

"Geez Vi. Did good ol' Kiramman reject your advancement last night?"

Only harshly biting her lip, Vi aggressively chomped on the food on her plate, forcing into her mouth spoon by spoon, until it was empty enough for her to stand up and do the dishes

Yes, she'd much rather go do the dishes, than stick with both your asses. You, who noticed her grumpy state, merely snickered, and gave Jinx a kiss on her cheek as well

"Why, aren't you so sweet to me today?"

"Only cuz' you look extra cute today"

You can hear Vi groaning from the distance, followed by the sound of metal clanking together. You suspect she might've hit her head with a pan, but whatever

"I have somewhere to go. You won't miss me too much, won't ya, sugarbug?"

Scoffing, you only took the bowl of kiwis from her hands, along with the soon, and you gestured for her to get going

"Independent much?. Yeah, that's my girl. Take your dirty clothes back to your house, my washing machine is broken"

"Must be because of all the adjustments you did to the poor thing...."

Standing up from her seat, Jinx gave you a final kiss on the forehead, petting your hair gently. And then she was out the door, probably to go wreak some havoc. Or so you thought

"So....You and Jinx, huh?"

"Hm?....Oh no, we're nothing like that"

Scoffing, Vi proceeded to scrub the plage clean, muttering words to herself. Jinx wasn't out to wreak havoc, she was going to the store, to buy.......certain items for you

And Vi, was forced to fake an ankle injury, to stay home and make sure you had no idea. It was your birthday after all. And much to her misfortune, Jinx tasked her of 'guarding' you to make sure you wouldn't accidentally find out about her fabulous mission

Standing up from your seat, you went over and handed the bowl to Vi, laughing at her displeased face that you're making her wash the dishes in your house. After laughing in her face, literally, you went back to your room to rest up

Frantically spamming the car horn, Jinx began yelling curses at the truck driver who was stupidly blocking the damned pathway

"I swear to every hexgate. I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU IF YOU DON'T MOVE THAT TRUCK!"

Grunting in frustration, she slammed her feet on the pedals, and drove quicker than the speed limit. She had to buy those gifts on time, or else the entire surprise would be busted

Jinx had planned a very big surprise, one that would (hopefully) make you blow you mind. She's confident enough (she's not) to pull it off.

The plan was simple. Get you stuck in her house, with Vi taking guard, while Caitlyn and her goons set up your house from the celebration, and Jinx was in charge of course, with the gifts. Caitlyn insisted she handled the food, and since you have taken a liking to rich people dietary, she had reluctantly agreed, for your sake

Jayce and Viktor were coming back in town to join in, after their Science exhibition competition. While Sevika babysits Isha for the time being

The moment you come home, and switch on the lights, everyone was going to yell surprise, and well surprise you. And after mingling with the others, Jinx will take you to a celebration, exclusively for the two of you

"Fucking finally"

Aggressively slamming the car door, Jinx speed walked to the store, already listing out all the things she needed to buy for you. It was a busy week, and although it's a shameful confession, she was unable to make time to prepare for your birthday.

Snacks for your date later, gift wrappers, a fucking candle because the one for your cake was snapped like twig when Maddie put it down. A few candies for Isha as peace offering since she plans on celebrating with only the two of you, Isha herself excluded

Spray paint, she has to decorate your date spot, paint in a can, because her studio ran out, after the art competition she joined a few days ago, and finally, a lollipop for a final touch. She loves them

"That would be 45.09 $, maam"

Handing the woman her card, Jinx bit her lip in anticipation, she watched the cashier, agonizingly swipe it with such slow speed, she nearly choked her. But then, her wild imagination was cut off, when the card she handed out declined. Oh. For. Fucks. Sake

"Oh, sorry, that must be my sister's. Haven't thrown it away yet since she died"

Giving the cashier Vi's card, Jinx backed up her lie by taking the card that was originally hers from the cashier's hands, and longingly stroked it with a sad sigh. The cashier, stupidly enough, bought the story, and swiped Vi's card.

By the love of luck, it worked, and Jinx was able to leave the store with all the necessities in hand. She mentally thanked Caitlyn for keeping that card loaded, even though she would never thank the Piltovan in person

Why did she have Vi's card you ask?. Well that is a story meant for another day

"You sure you aren't dating?"

"No, Vi, we're not"

"Cuz' I remember Jinx referring to you as her 'girfriend' "

"Must've been a mistake"

Smiling at Vi, the older woman couldn't help but feel annoyed that you couldn't get the fucking hint. Jinx thinks you're dating!, snap out of it!

The redhead would love to curse you out right now, but she didn't want Jinx to get upset and blame it on Caitlyn again. And bombed her house, again

She remembered there was even a time when Jinx threatened Caitlyn's life, along with her family's if she keeps on visiting Vi's house. Like the two weren't lovers

But because of your hold to Jinx, you easily convinced the girl that Vi is old enough to have people over, and that it's not right to dictate the flow of her older sister's life. Caitlyn was still suspicious to Jinx though, a major red flag

Suddenly, Vi's waki taki beeped, and Maddie's voice could be heard, thankfully you went upstairs to wash up, and didn't hear it. Yes they had waki takis, and yes it was all because of Jinx. Baby girl literally wanted this celebration to be perfect, she went all out just for you

"Vi, the house is ready, but Jinx isn't here yet"

"Must be the traffic. Don't worry, Y/n is taking her precious time, washing up and packing her dirty clothes"

"Copy"

And with that, a static rang, and the conversation was cut off. They sure are taking this surprise seriously. How Vi wishes she could help out, and not just guard you. Hey, she doesn't hate you, but she would love to watch Cait cook, hugging her from behind and everything

"Hey Vi, do you mind calling Jinx?, just wanna ask her something. My phone's dead"

"Sure"

Ringing up Jinx on the phone, Vi handed it to you, and after thanking her, you went back up to Jinx's bedroom. Drumming her fingers on her thigh, Vi thought back about the plan. Her duty, how she's supposed to make sure you wouldn't find out about the secret party, and everything

But wait.....

Wait....

What if Jinx answers and she thinks it's Vi, and then the whole plan gets busted?!

Rushing up the stairs, Vi slammed the door open, only to find you laughing in the call, while brushing your hair in the mirror. It seems Jinx caught up quick and realized it was you, thank goodness

"Yes, I found it......Alright, bye. Mhm. I'll give the phone back to Vi now"

Turning to the door, you were shocked when you saw Vi, standing there like a creep. Giving the phone back to Vi, she gave you a curt nod before closing the door, gently this time. It was a puzzle to Vi, how you did not hear her slam it open, but hey, saved her the trouble

"I'm done packing up, I gotta go now. See ya Vi"

In a surge of panic, Vi yelped, holding your wrist tightly between her fingers. She can't let you leave, that destroys the whole celebration. She has to keep you here until Jinx says so

"You........can't leave"

"Uhm why?. I already cleaned up, don't worry"

"No, uh. It's uhmm...Jinx told me she wanted you to uhm...To..."

"To what, Vi?"

"To...... replace the sheets...?"

"Uhm, excuse me?"

"Replace the sheets in her room....cuz you made a mess out of it"

Burning red, you stuttered out words, before rushing back upstairs to Jinx's bedroom. The fact that you immediately left without question, made Vi's face burn up as well. Jinx. Former Powder. Her baby sister....?

HER BABY SISTER ALREADY BANGED SOMEONE!!!

Now Vi doesn't know whether or not she should be proud. Jinx is an adult. And she can decide what she does. But it was weird to think that her baby sister is no longer innocent. How she misses the oh so ignorant baby Powder

She could hear you shuffling from Jinx's bedroom upstairs, and that made Vi panic. What if you finish way too early?, she's gonna have to think of something else to stall you.

Jinx sped up, and drove to your house. Seeing as the Piltover sheriff's car is still parked outside, she can only assume they haven't finished yet. But as she opened the door, she could see Caitlyn admiring the place, with Maddie on her side.

"How's it goin'?"

Turning to face the blue haired girl, Caitlyn smiled and straightened her back. She always did have thus mannerism where she fixes up immediately when addressed

"Everything is ready. Here, I'll help you wrap those—"

"No. If you're finished, get out and assist Vi"

At her resistance, Caitlyn could only sigh. Gesturing for Maddie, the two left, leaving Jinx to frown at the too-neat arrangement they did.

Well good thing she brought paint right?. Time to jinxify this awful place

Bringing out the stuff she bought, Jinx smirked at cans of paint she brought out of her pockets. Yes she shoplifted, and don't act like you've never done it before. She did it to save money. Vi's money

"Ugh. Those Pilties seriously lack taste!"

And with that, the whole house was smeared in neon paint, glitter, and a few charms she made out of scrap. But don't worry, she made sure not to stain anything, she merely blotched paint on the ridiculous gold decor Caitlyn put up

Putting the waki tali close to her lips, Jinx couldn't help but smirk. It wasn't a cocky kind of smirk, it was excited, but nervous. This whole plan was making her nervous

"Get the guests in, we're done here"

"Uhm. Why exactly do we need to rush back to my house, Vi?"

"We're not rushing...uhh....My friends are gonna come over at Jinx's for a gamenight. Thought I'd bring you home first before they barge in"

"Oh, okay"

Adjusting your seatbelt, you watched Vi literally stutter the key into the keyhole to start the car. What was making her so nervous?

"Uhm....Are you okay?"

"Yeah!. Yeah, just....."

Finally fitting the key, Vi started the car, stepping on the gas with rush. Jinx was fucking mad, way too excited to wait for Vi. And the blue haired girl threatened that she will plant drugs in Caitlyn's manor and tip to the cops if they didn't get there quick

She wasn't scared of Jinx. She was scared of Caitlyn, and the fact that it has been months since the two blue heads last fought. Vi was relieved then, but now she had to give everything in her soul to keep that constant

"Stupid fucking traffic..."

After nearly half an hour of honking out her road rage, Vi was finally able to pull up by your garage. No cars on sight, to not raise suspicion that here were people in your home boutta scare the fuck out of you

"Go on inside. I'll carry your stuff"

Only giving her a puzzled side eye, you went to your door, opening it with the keys, and kicking your shoes off and setting them aside.

As you approached the light switch, you swore you heard shushing sounds, but you brushed it off, and reached for the switch instead. Flicking it up, you were surprised when a synchronous shout of 'Happy Birthday!' was heard. Along with the pop of the confetti bombs that rung in the air

"Oh fuck—!......You guys scared me!!"

You couldn't help but smile at the sight of a birthday cake being held by none other than Jinx herself. She was smiling ear to ear, almost more excited than you were

Everyone was here. Caitlyn, the Maddie bitch who bullied you in highschool but eventually reconciled with, Jayce and his beloved partner, Viktor. Claggor, Mylo, Silco who looked like he worked for 24 hours, Vander who had an arm hooked around Silco's shoulders. Isha, Sevika, Mel, Lest. Literally everyone

Isha walked up to you first, with a shy smile, and a messily wrapped purple gift in her small hands. Thanking the little sweetheart, you crouched down and kissed her forehead, to which she hugged you with a happy hum

Sevika gave you a nod with a small smile, you two learned to get along before she had with Jinx, and that really helped out their relationship a big lot. Mel greeted you elegantly, handing you a neat gift with golden wrapper. Silco weirdly enough told you he gave you his 'blessing', but you smiled and thanked him anyway despite not knowing what he meant

Vander told you the same thing too, even shaking your hand like a proud dad. Jayce and Viktor handed you a gift that was supposedly made by the two of them, specifically for you. Claggor gave you a stapled paper bag, and apologised that he couldn't wrap it properly since he didn't know how. But the thought enough was sweet

Mylo, much like Vander, weirdly told you he gives you his blessing, and handed you a circular brooch that held the words; Y/n Lane. It was their family surname, and that made you laugh

"Mylo, I'm not your sister!"

"You're my sister-in-law though"

"Sorry, I didn't quite catch that"

"Nothing!, you should go to Jinx now. She looks pretty lonely"

Confused, your eyes searched for Jinx. And there she was, still holding the cake in her hands, with her eyes lingering on you. Giggling, you ran up to her, making her Yelp and hold the cake with one hand, while the other held your waist in a hug

"Woah!, easy there, bunny!. You're gonna smash your own cake!"

Giving her a shameless kiss on the cheek, you hugged her again. Jinx only smiled, placing her hand higher up, til it reached the back of your head, and stroked your hair. Everything went according to plan. Good

"Alright, Y/n. Let's blow out those candles!"

After eating together, the others left, but Vi and Isha slept in. It was midnight now, you and Jinx were comfortably situated in the kitchen, giggling like idiots while you tried to follow the instructions on a cookbook on how to make pizza

Jinx's face was covered in flour, and yours were covered in tomato sauce. After fooling around for a bit, you were now seated on the kitchen top, while Jinx leaned on the sink across from you.

"Should I open it now?"

"I mean, if you opened it tomorrow, it wouldn't have been a birthday gift anymore, right?"

Taking her point, you slowly unwrapped the gift that Isha had given you. It had too much tape on some sides, but none on the others. You suspected Sevika must've helped her wrap it, being the gentle one-handed aunt she was

Gasping, you were met with a framed drawing of Isha, you and Jinx holding hands. It was drawn with crayons, and it had details too. Grass, trees, butterflies, and oddly shaped flowers too. And above each drawing of a person, she wrote names.

So cute. But it made you think, since she believed you were her mama, did that mean?. Nah, it can't be, Jinx clearly isn't interested in stuff like that. She was just flirty, and touchy, but that's it

"She thinks I'm her mama. And you too. We're her mom's now?"

Laughing it off, you were silenced when Jinx looked at you like you had said something absurd

"Aren't we?"

"What?"

"Aren't we technically her moms?"

"We'd have to be together, Jinx"

"But we are...."

Puzzled, you parted your lips to speak, but nothing came out. What does she mean? You were together?. Since when?

"Since when..?"

"What?"

"Jinx, we're not together.....You never asked me"

"But we hug, and kiss!, fuck, we even sleep on the same bed sometimes!"

"Yeah, but we don't say 'I love you', or kiss on the lips!...Besides you never asked me"

"I thought.... I though it was us"

"Well.....haha..uhm...that's awkward"

Scratching your neck awkwardly, you avoided eye contact with Jinx. She looked upset. You didn't mean to make her upset, it's just that she had never asked you

"I think...I think I should head to bed now"

"Wait!....Before that...I have something to show you"

Finally looking at her, you watched her walk stiffly to the door, before looking at you and beckoning for you to follow her. Deciding to screw it all, you did, and she opened her car door for you, straight on the front seat

Getting in herself, Jinx didn't say a word, she just drove. And after a few minutes of awkwardly pretending that you were interested in the window, she finally came to stop, and got out to open the door for you

"Close your eyes. It's a surprise"

Jinx held her hand out for you to hold, but what caught your attention the most was the tender smile laying on her lips. Like you hadn't technically just rejected her earlier.

Taking her hand in yours, you squeezed it, and got out, closing your eyes like she told you. You felt Jinx guide you, until your feet made shuffling noises on the floor like you were walking on plants. She also constantly changed you direction, like she was avoiding trees. Where on Earth were you two going?

"Alright, we're here. Keep your eyes closed until I say so, Kay?"

With her words, you felt her touch on you leave, and her footsteps faded in the distance, but it was still there.

"Alright, open up!"

Opening your eyes, you had barely made them adjust in the dark, before a lever was pulled and lights burned bright. That's where you saw it, the old amusement park where you had first met Jinx. Unfortunately it was closed off after a while, and was abandoned in the forest

But now here it was, whirring with life, like it did back then. Jinx walked back to you, and linked your arms together, smiling at the awestruck expression on your face.

"So... Which ride we going on first?"

After two hours of filing around the system of the park, you and Jinx took the best for last. The ferris wheel. It wasn't fancy, and it didn't have roives like the ones in the big parks. But it was high enough to reach the top of the trees

"Trust me, the sunrise is gonna look awesome"

Giggling along with her, you placed your head on her shoulder. She didn't even tense up, didn't even flinch away

"You know....We can be together. If you ask me"

"Oh, yeah?"

"Yeah..."

Looking at the sun in the distance, you waited for Jinx to respond. But she was silent, like she was thinking about something, contemplating something

"If I ask you now, would you say yes?"

"Only if you ask me"

Humming, Jinx held up your chin, and tilted it to make you look at her. She was so close. If you leaned in now, you could kiss her

"Then....Wanna be my girlfriend?"

"I'd love to"

Placing your lips on hers, you felt Jinx let out a satisfied sigh against your lips, before she pushed back, and deepened the kiss. You were expecting it to be brief, and shy. But Jinx is anything but shy, instead, she placed hand in the back of your head and pulled you closer, damn near burying her tongue in your throat

Your precious moment was then cut off, when Jinx's phone rang. Pulling away, she cursed and smiled at you apologetically, to which you told her that was okay. Answering the call, you held her hand while her other held the phone by her ear

"What, Vi?"

And loudly, you heard Vi yell at the call...

"YOU LEFT THE DAMN OVEN ON!"

The city was quiet for once. No sirens. No gunfire. Just the distant hum of Zaun’s neon veins buzzing against the silence. Your apartment sat high above the chaos, a miracle in itself, tucked away behind pipes and patched walls. The clock read 2:14 a.m. You should’ve been asleep, but the grumble in your stomach refused to let you.

You padded barefoot into the kitchen, flipping on the dull yellow light overhead. The space was small, cluttered, and smelled faintly of oil and metal—thanks to Jinx leaving her ammo supplies too close to the fridge again. You sighed, pulling open the door and surveying the mess of leftover takeout boxes and a singular questionable banana.

“Guess I’m improvising,” you muttered.

You grabbed some eggs, cheese, and whatever half-edible produce you could find. Your plan was to make something simple—maybe a midnight omelet, maybe toast with questionable dignity—but before you could turn on the stove, a thud sounded from the vents overhead.

You didn’t even flinch.

Seconds later, a familiar voice drifted down, muffled but giddy.

“Whatcha doin’, toots?”

You turned toward the sound just in time to watch the grate pop open and Jinx tumble down like a cat that barely cared to stick the landing.

“I told you to stop using the vents,” you said, arms crossed but smiling.

“And I told you to unlock your windows, but here we are,” she grinned, brushing dust from her knees as she sauntered into the kitchen like she owned the place. She probably did, in a way. Her boots were untied, her braids a little more chaotic than usual. Her eyes gleamed in that way they always did when she was in a mood—mischievous, wild, and just a little soft when they landed on you.

“You hungry?” you asked, turning back to the counter.

She tilted her head like a curious puppy. “Starving.”

“Good,” you said. “You can help.”

“Oh no, no, no,” Jinx said dramatically, backing away. “I break things. I burn things. I blow things up. But I do not cook.”

“You cook bullets all the time.”

“Those explode on purpose, babe.”

You raised an eyebrow and offered her a spatula. She eyed it like it was a loaded weapon, then took it with exaggerated caution, gripping it with two fingers like it might bite her.

“Fine,” she grumbled. “But if I set the kitchen on fire, it’s your fault.”

“You’d probably enjoy that,” you teased.

“Yeah,” she said, eyes lighting up, “but I’d feel kinda bad if it ruined your eggs.”

Jinx, it turned out, was an absolute menace in the kitchen. She cracked eggs like she was throwing grenades. You had to stop her from putting chili flakes in everything. And she sang—loudly, off-key, spinning you around like you were dancing in some ballroom instead of a grimy kitchen two stories above the Lanes.

The pan sizzled as you both crowded around the stove, hip to hip. Her fingers brushed yours more than necessary, and every time, she smirked like she knew exactly what she was doing.

“Y’know,” she said while trying to flip an omelet and somehow launching half of it onto the floor, “this feels weird.”

“What, cooking?”

“No. This.” She waved the spatula in a slow arc around the kitchen. “Us. You. Me. Not running. Not hiding. Just… this.”

You didn’t say anything for a second. Just listened to the soft pop of oil in the pan, the occasional honk of some late-night hover cart outside, and Jinx’s quiet breathing beside you.

“I like weird,” you finally said.

Jinx tilted her head again, eyes searching yours.

“I never had this before,” she admitted. “The quiet. The safe. I used to think it was boring. But now…”

You turned off the stove and slid the finished food onto a cracked plate. Jinx watched you, hands still wrapped around the spatula, like she didn’t know what to do with them now that the chaos had paused.

You set the plate down between you two and leaned against the counter. “Now what?”

Jinx shrugged, but it was tight. Nervous. “Now I’m scared I’ll mess it up.”

You blinked. That wasn’t what you expected.

She didn’t look at you when she said it. Her voice was too light, like she was trying to play it off, but you knew her too well by now.

“I’m not good at this,” she went on. “Being calm. Being… whatever people are in normal lives. I break things, remember? I ruin everything.”

You reached out and took her hand. Gently. Purposefully. Her fingers twitched in yours.

“You don’t ruin everything,” you said softly.

“Name one thing I haven’t.”

You didn’t hesitate. “Me.”

That got her. Her expression flickered—surprise, disbelief, and something softer buried under years of survival and trauma.

“You sure about that, baby?” she whispered.

“Completely.”

Jinx looked at you like you were the sun and she’d never seen daylight before. And maybe she hadn’t. Not real daylight, not the kind that warmed your bones and made you feel alive.

“Okay,” she said, voice small.

“Okay?”

She smirked again. “Okay. But if we’re doing this whole domestic life thing, you better be ready for chaos cupcakes and grenade muffins.”

You snorted. “Sounds dangerous.”

“Dangerous is my middle name.”

“I thought it was ‘Pow-Pow.’”

She laughed—a real one, loud and crackling, and it echoed off the walls like a firework. You leaned your head against her shoulder, and she didn’t pull away. Instead, she rested her cheek on top of your head, arms slung loosely around your waist.

The food was getting cold, but neither of you cared.

An hour later, you were sitting cross-legged on the counter, sharing bites of a very ugly, very burnt omelet. Jinx had added hot sauce that could kill a man, but somehow it worked. Probably because you were too full of laughter and something warm and sticky in your chest to care.

“You know,” Jinx said between bites, “this would make a great hideout. Cozy. Good view. Room for my toys.”

“I don’t want to find a grenade in the dishwasher again.”

“That was one time.”

“It went off.”

“Barely!”

You laughed again, shaking your head. “You’re impossible.”

“I’m irresistible.”

You rolled your eyes, but you didn’t deny it.

Silence settled again, this time more comfortable. You looked out the cracked window, watching the flickering lights of Zaun dance in the dark. And you felt her eyes on you—sharp and soft all at once.

“What?” you asked, meeting her gaze.

She shrugged. “Just thinking.”

“About?”

“About how lucky I am you’re still here.”

You blinked. “Where else would I be?”

“Gone,” she said honestly. “Most people leave. Or die. Or run. But you—you stay. Even when I’m a mess. Even when I bring trouble to your door. Even when I forget how to be good.”

You leaned forward and kissed her. It was gentle, slow, nothing like the explosions that marked most of her life. When you pulled away, her lashes fluttered like she was waking up from a dream.

“I stay,” you whispered, “because I love you.”

She didn’t say anything right away. Just pressed her forehead to yours and breathed, “I think I’d burn down the world for you.”

“Then let’s just keep the kitchen for now, yeah?”

She grinned, lips brushing yours again. “Deal.”

The Last Drop had never been quieter, and it worried you.

The silence after a fight always hits the hardest. Not the shouting, not the breaking of glass or slammed doors—no, it was this part. The cold quiet. The aftermath. When you realized maybe you’d said too much or maybe she hadn’t said enough. Or maybe this was the time it wouldn’t be okay.

You stood near the bar, staring at the pile of wires and scrap Jinx had abandoned on the workbench. She’d stormed off hours ago—after the argument, after the look she gave you that you couldn’t quite stomach. Something between hurt and betrayal. Something worse than her usual chaos.

You rubbed at your tired eyes, the ache behind them threatening to bloom into a full-blown migraine. You didn’t want to fight. You never wanted to fight. But Jinx kept doing reckless things—rushing into skirmishes, playing bait, taking hits that weren’t hers to take. And every time, you stood at the edge of Zaun’s dark alleys or Piltover’s ruined streets, waiting to see if she’d come back in one piece.

This time, she hadn’t even told you she was leaving.

So yeah, you’d yelled. You were scared. You were so scared.

And now she is gone.

You sank onto the stool behind the counter, heart beating an unsteady rhythm. What if this time, she didn’t come back? What if this was it?

Then the door creaked open.

Your head snapped up.

There she was—oil-stained, bruised, and soaked from Zaun’s toxic rain. Blue hair stuck to her face. She didn’t say anything, just closed the door behind her like she was afraid it might slam and shatter the fragile silence hanging between you both.

You swallowed, relief hitting first—hot and heavy—before the anger returned, like it had been waiting behind your ribs for her to walk through that door.

“Where the hell were you?” your voice came out sharper than intended.

Jinx didn’t look at you. She started peeling off her jacket, slowly, moving mechanically.

“You weren’t answering your comm,” you continued, standing now, fists clenched at your sides. “You didn’t leave a note, nothing. Just—vanished. Again.”

“I handled it,” she muttered, finally looking at you, eyes unreadable.

“Handled it? You came back with a busted arm and a limp!”

“It’s not that bad—”

“Not that bad? Are you serious, Jinx?! You could’ve died!”

Silence.

Then she laughed.

Not her usual cackle—this one was bitter, short, almost tired.

“Right,” she said, eyes flicking away. “Because dying would be the worst thing in the world, huh?”

You blinked, startled. “What the hell does that mean?”

“I mean—” she threw her jacket onto the floor with a sharp movement, “—maybe you’d finally stop waiting for me to screw up if I just didn’t come back at all!”

The words hit you like a punch to the gut.

Your throat tightened. “Don’t say that.”

“Why not? Isn’t that what this is about?” she snapped. “I’m always the one messing up, right? You’re always here, yelling at me, fixing me. Trying to patch me back together like some broken toy!”

“You’re not a toy, Jinx,” you said quietly, fighting the sting in your chest.

She paced now, boots squeaking on the cracked wooden floor. “You don’t get it! You don’t get what it’s like to have everyone waiting for you to fail. You think I wanna keep screwing things up? You think I like this?”

“No,” you said, voice rising again, unsteady. “I think you keep making the same mistakes!”

“Well, sorry for trying again!” she shouted back, and that’s when her voice cracked.

That’s when it all shattered.

The air went still.

She stood frozen, eyes wide, hands balled into fists at her sides. Like she’d said too much. Like she wanted to take it back—but couldn’t.

You stared at her. She looked so small suddenly. Tired. Vulnerable. Like the weight of every mistake, every scar, every burned bridge was sitting on her shoulders, and she didn’t know how to carry it anymore.

Your heart broke a little.

“I’m not mad because you try,” you said softly. “I’m mad because I love you. And watching you throw yourself into danger over and over like you don’t care what happens to you—it kills me, Jinx. I can’t keep pretending I’m okay with it.”

She didn’t respond. Just stood there, shoulders trembling, eyes fixed on a spot on the floor.

You took a shaky breath and stepped toward her. She didn’t move.

“I’m not trying to fix you,” you said. “I just want you to stop hurting yourself. To stop treating your life like it doesn’t matter.”

Her voice was barely above a whisper. “Sometimes it feels like it doesn’t.”

You reached out then, slowly, gently. Let your fingers caress her cheeks.

“I don’t care what Piltover thinks. Or what Silco thought. Or even what Vi might’ve said. You matter to me. You always have.”

Finally, finally—she looked at you.

And her eyes were glassy now. Pink around the edges. That guarded wall she always threw up? Cracked, showing pieces of the girl underneath. The girl who still carried so much pain.

“I don’t know how to stop being like this,” she admitted, voice fragile. “I wanna be better for you, but I don’t know how to stop screwing up.”

You closed the space between you and wrapped your arms around her before she could spiral again. She stiffened for a second—but then she sank into it. Like she’d been holding her breath this whole time and only now remembered how to exhale.

“You don’t have to be perfect,” you murmured against her hair. “I’m not asking you to change overnight. I just… I need you to let me in. To tell me when you’re scared. Or when you’re hurting. I can’t keep guessing.”

She nodded against you, almost desperately.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I didn’t mean to make you feel like you don’t matter.”

You kissed the side of her head. “I know.”

She pulled back just enough to look at you, hands trembling. “I don’t wanna lose you.”

“You won’t,” you promised, brushing a tear from her cheek with your thumb. “But I need us to start facing things together. Not you rushing off and me panicking at home. We’re a team, right?”

Jinx gave a small, shaky smile. “Yeah. Team Jinx and (Y/N).”

You laughed softly, heart warming at the familiar tone in her voice. “Exactly.”

She hesitated, then leaned in, forehead pressing against yours. “I’m gonna mess up again. I know I will.”

You nodded. “And I’ll probably yell again. But I’ll still be here.”

She closed her eyes. “I’m scared of being too much.”

“You’re not,” you said firmly. “You’re just enough.”

The rain had eased by the time you both collapsed onto the couch in the corner of the bar, wrapped in a blanket that smelled like gunpowder and smoke and her. She rested her head on your chest, letting you run your fingers through her damp hair.

“Promise me something?” you asked, voice soft.

She tilted her head to look up at you. “Yeah?”

“Next time you feel like running off alone… talk to me first. Let me help you. Please.”

Jinx nodded slowly. “I promise.”

You smiled, then leaned down to press a kiss to her temple.

She closed her eyes again, this time without tension in her jaw or worry behind her brows.

“Y’know,” she murmured sleepily, “you’re the only one who ever stayed.”

Your heart twisted.

“I’m not going anywhere, hun.”

And you meant it.

Even if she kept making the same mistakes.

Even if you had to keep trying again.

Because that’s what love was. Not perfect. Not easy. But it was worth it.

LOVE WITHDRAWAL

"I know I fucked up, and—"

"Jinx please.....Just....Just leave me alone"

Closing the door on Jinx, you pressed your forehead against it. You wanted to forgive her, give her another chance. But you've given more than just a second chance. And this time, you just can't bring yourself to trust her again

Jinx had a problem with drugs, having used it since she was in highschool. And after she willingly brought herself in rehabilitation, she went back to you, begging for forgiveness

Forgiving her is the easy part, accepting her as a part of your life again wasn't. After everything that's happened. After everything she's done.....It's impossible

Looking at your hand wrapped around the doorknob, you could see the bruise peeking out of your hoodie sleeve. It was one of the many scars Jinx had left you, that you desperately wanted to hide

"Y/n....please....I can't do this without you..."

Ignoring her plea, you went upstairs to your bedroom, too tired, too worn out. If she really wanted to get back together. It's gonna take a lot more than just begging at your doorstep

Suddenly, your phone pinged, and Jinx's name popped up on your lockscreen. You couldn't block her no, you always welcomed it when she would message you a long apology. Maybe it's part of the fact that you knew you still loved her

Despite the abuse, the hate, the drugs, and disrespect to your family. You loved Jinx. She loved you. It's what she always says. But what she called 'love', was always blinded the very moment she takes a whiff of the dumb shit she hooked herself on

And then she becomes almost illiterate, incoherent. Mumbling phrases only she seemed to understand, doing things she won't remember when the effects subside. It got bad enough for her to start physically abusing you.

Pointing out your insecurities like she didn't know you knew it was there. Almost like she wanted you to suffer more than you already were. And when she gets back conscious, when she can finally normally interact, she would tell you that she loves you, and swears that you'd never get hurt if she was there

But what if right?....Bruises never heal...But they fade. They leave, and when they're gone, it's like they were never there to begin with..

Taking a piece of paper from your nightstand drawer, you decided to write down the things you've always wanted done. The things you've always bugged her about. The things she always shot down

Jinx sat on the floor of the front porch. She loved you, really. She just needs a chance to set this right, make it okay. Fix it

Tears spilled in her eyes, and she couldn't stop them. She was tempted to call Silco for help, but she didn't. He was the reason she got hooked into drugs after all, since she's always seen him use it in her childhood. And besides, if she wanted your forgiveness, she needed to work for it. Alone

As she stood up, Jinx took one last look at your door. But she was confused when a pink slip of paper peak from underneath the gap on the door

Walking over, Jinx picked it up, and read it's contents. The words on the paper made her eyebrows raise, and hastily, she brought out her car keys and took off.

Driving over to a bakery, Jinx went into it, and shyly waved back at the cashier who greeted her when she got in there.

"What can I get you, miss?

"Uhm.....Blueberry cheesecakes, two of them and....An americano, and a/an f/d"

"Alright!, I'll go make them now!"

The bakery was the place where you were supposed to celebrate your anniversary. The bakery was only fresh to business back then, and due to overlapping schedules, you two had decided to meet up there at night

But that decision was revoked, when she stood you up. It wasn't on purpose. But that doesn't mean what she did was right. That night, she had just got off of work, when one of her friends greeted her at the door, and she forgot all about your plans. Instead, she was out there, smoking weed, and injecting shit into herself, getting high.

"Miss....Would it be dine in, or take out?"

"Take out please"

Awkwardly sitting on one of the stools, Jinx glanced at the place around her, only to realize that she was the only customer there. And it was broad daylight.

"Here you go, maam!"

Taking the plastic from the cashiers hands, Jinx pursed her lip, hesitant about asking the question that stuck in her mind when she observed her surroundings

"So uh....not much customers anymore?"

"Sadly, no. They've all decided the coffee on the other side of the street is cheaper, and better"

"This yours?"

"Yeah. But I guess I'm gonna have to close it up soon"

Only humming in response, Jinx was off. Driving back at your place, not caring about the police sirens tailing her car. But she lost them all on the way. And she spray painted her plate number so it should be fine.....for now

Yeah, she definitely needs Silco to fix that, before the issue elevates

Parking her car, Jinx went straight to your front porch once again. Carefully placing the cheesecake and f/d at your door, Jinx sighed, and knocked. She then walked away slightly, and sat by the stairs, facing away from the door

Gripping her americano in her hand, Jinx shut her eyes tight, very very tight. The blue haired girl flinched when she heard your door creak open, followed by a few shuffling noises, before it was once again, shut

Sitting on the floor, leaning on the door, you put the straw inside the cup, and opened the box for the blueberry cheesecake. It was the very same order you took when she stood you up.

At the painful memory, you felt tears begin to well up in your eyes again. Aggressively poking the cake with a fork, you chucked a biteful of it into your mouth

She needs to work harder...

The next day, Jinx, unsurprisingly showed again at your porch, probably awaiting her next task.

And also unsurprisingly, another pink note slipped out from the gap at the door. Picking it up, Jinx read it's contents. And as quickly as she came, she left to begin her task

Stopping by the flower shop, Jinx went to pick up freshly picked tulips, and then she immediately drove to a camp site, and approached one of the staff, asking for a fishing trip for two people

After purchasing a ticket, Jinx wasted no time and immediately drove off to another location. Which was, your parents' house

Yes. She was going to earn their forgiveness as well. And yes, the flowers and tickets are for them. Let's just hope they at least give her the chance to talk

Her breath was staggered, and her heart was raging. Losing the trust of your parents was equivalent to losing you completely. She knew that if she wanted to be with you, she needs their blessing. Their approval

Getting her heavy feet off the car, Jinx clutched the bouquet in her hand, the tickets for the fishing trip was placed in between the flowers

Clearing her throat, Jinx rang the doorbell with stuttering fingers, throat closing up, when she heard the familiar sound of your mother's voice from inside

"Who is—oh......you"

An awkward silence settled between your mother and Jinx. And the blue haired girl forced herself to smile, offering a shaky greeting to the lady

"Honey, who is it?"

Curious, your father looked over your mother's shoulder, only to frown when he recognized the person you had introduced to them not even a month ago

"Good morning, sir"

"If you're looking for Y/n, she's not here.

I doubt she'd want to talk to you anyway"

"I'm not here for her sir. I'm here to.....to fix things, between us. And if you'd let me, I'd love us to have a fresh start"

Jinx spent the next few weeks doing the tasks you wrote down the pink slips of papers you slid underneath your front door. Some of the tasks you gave her were simple, and easily finished.

Like when you ordered her to go to the Ocean Aquarium she had forced you to have a date with her on, while she was high. Despite the fact that she knew you were deathly afraid of the deep sea. While some tasks required her time, and effort

Like when you made her bake an entire cake, after she ruined the one you had made for her on her birthday, after she found out you threw away her cigarette packs. We all know she's a loss cause in the kitchen. And it took her more than half a day, just to muster up a decent tasting one. And it didn't even look edible

There was even a time when you made her read an entire novel series, and made her create a reflection paper about it, to teach her patience.

And tonight, you figured maybe it's time to stop running away. Maybe you should talk about it. Together

As Jinx's footsteps drew closer to the door, you took a shaky inhale, before you slowly and carefully opened it, directly making eye contact with her

Growing tense, Jinx with parted lips short circuited, not knowing what to do. This was the first she's seen of you in weeks, after you shut that door in her face

".....hi?"

If it weren't for the uncertainty in your heart, you would've laughed at her awkwardness. Maybe you'd kiss her cheek and smile..but not right now. You can't do that now

"Come inside..... Let's talk"

"Oh....yeah!....ok!"

Stepping inside your abode, Jinx nearly teared up, when she was meant with the familiar scent of home infiltrated her senses. She missed it here. She missed being here with you

"Come take a seat"

Placing herself on the couch across from you, Jinx fiddled with her thumbs, pursing her lips, like she was deathly afraid you. Or maybe of what you'd bring upon her. But whatever it is, she can take it. For you, she would

"So uh....What did you want to talk about?"

Placing a cigarette between your lips, you lit it up, before pulling it away from your lips in order to give a proper reply

"I'm sure you already have an idea"

Furrowing her eyebrows in distaste, the blue haired girl watched as you inhaled a puff of smoke into your sense, sighing with relief as you let the smoke slowly escape your lips, not caring to blow it out

"You smoke?. Since when?"

"Since the first time you hit me"

A silence dawned upon the two of you. And Jinx felt like she was slapped across the face. Like she was hung by the neck. She didn't expect that. Not even a little bit

"I-I'm so—"

"Stop it. I don't want your empty apologies. I want you to prove it"

Shutting her mouth, Jinx lowered her gaze to the floor. She was a fool. Why was she on drugs in the first place anyway?. She would've been able to stay with you, if only she quit earlier. Maybe you'd still be together. Maybe she would've never been so out of control, to the extent that she hurt you. Physically, and mentally.

"Did you love me Jinx?"

"I do....I love you"

Another beat of silence. And now, tears were falling like a fountain from your eyes. Jinx, guilty, ashamed, felt tears of her own built up in her eyelids. This was her fault. She never should've used those. She never should've hit you.

"Then why did you do it?"

"I'm sorry"

"Why did you do it, Jinx?!"

"I'm so sorry"

"What the hell is your apology going to do?!"

"I love you, Y/n"

"And what is that gonna do?!"

"I love you so, so much"

"........what is it gonna do?"

But she didn't respond. She merely repeated a string of apologies, whispering it as if she was afraid you'd get mad if you heard her. But you heard her. And you hear her now

"Is it gonna hurt me again?"

"No!....I promise I'll change!"

Panicked, Jinx nearly stood up from her seat, but she was cut off when you yourself stood up, heading to the kitchen like you wanted to make some space

But Jinx knew better. If she gave you space now you'd never come back. You'd be too scared to. And she had to show she's serious about this. About the two of you

With heavy feet, Jinx slowly went to the kitchen as well, only to see you sobbing with the tap turned on, to drown the sounds of your cries. Jind didn't like that

Eager, Jinx wrapped her arms around you from behind, making your breath hitch. It was silent. Like the two of you were communicating through actions. Jinx had never been good with words. And honestly, neither were you

"I love you"

"I love you too, Jinx.....But I don't know if I can go through that again"

"You won't have to.....I'll change...And this time, I promise I'll be the one to take care of you"

You felt her tears dampen your shirt while she hugged you from behind. It was comforting to say the least. It was nice to have her here again. Even if the circumstances isn't so....favorable

Placing a hand over the one she had wrapped around your torso, you let her cry it off a little more. Even if you're hurt, you still can't bring yourself to push it all on her. It wasn't her fault she was exposed to that kind of life. But it is her doing that lead her to this.

If she is true to her word, and she really is going to change, then this might just be the biggest change you'd make her do in her life

"Promise me, you'll never do anything like that ever again"

"I promise... I'll take care of you. I promise"

"Promise me, you'll change, and you won't ever hurt me again"

The more she spoke, the more her voice cracked, the tighter her grip on you was. You couldn't even breathe anymore, but it didn't exactly felt like it mattered. What matters is that, Jinx loves you, and she's going to change now, for real
